I laid in bed and stared at the blank ceiling above me. Today was the engagement. I could already hear my cousins and family running around and getting everything set up through my room door.

My cousins and uncles showed up last night and were the last to arrive. We fit as many people we could into our house, but since there was so many people, some eventually had to book a hotel nearby.

I stared at the ceiling for a while, just foreshadowing about the day ahed. I would finally see Karan at the engagement hall today. Where he would put a ring on my finger to declare me as his. But, in reality, I was already taken by the person I love, Niall.

I finally got out of bed and tried to be at least a little happy about the day. Niall and the boys are going to be there. They were posing as my college friends,  so my family wouldn't suspect anything.

I grabbed my towel and headed towards the bathroom, to find it already full. I groaned. I walked to my parents bathroom hoping that no one would be in it and was relived to find no one there. I quickly stepped in the bathroom and locked the door behind me.

After I was done taking a shower, I put on some jeans and a plain old Harvard University shirt I had gotten years ago. I struggled to walk downstairs as my family ran up and down the stairs doing who knows what. Everyone said 'hi' and 'hello' and occasionally you would get the aunt saying 'She finally decides to wake up' (in Hindi of course). I glanced at the clock. 10:00. I wouldn't say that's late, I did lay in my room and take a shower so I technically woke up at a normal time.

I  poured myself some milk and fruit loops that my mom had got me. I sat at the table and just as I was about to dig in, my mom came running in with two of my cousins trailing behind her.

"Naina! Where have you been?! I've been looking everywhere for you! Now hurry up and let's go! We need to get to the beauty parlor! You have an appointment in 15 minutes." She yelled, holding my engagement dress in her hands. Me, my mom, and my two other cousins were going to be getting ready at the beauty parlor, because we're just that awesome.

I rushingly finished my cereal and ran out the door with my mom and cousin. We got to the parlor a minute late, but whatever.

The two stylists sat me in a chair and immediately began their work. One of the stylists started with my hair as the other one started with my makeup.

The hair stylist started to put my hair in beautiful curls and then tied it up in a loose bun, with a few strands left out in the front. The makeup stylist did..., I don't even know, I wasn't very good at doing complicated makeup. I was always a person that usually just went naturally. Anyways she made a gold smokey eye, I think and added a nude pink lip.

When I looked into the mirror, I was amazed. My brown eyes didn't look so boring and my hair was breathtaking. I wasn't going to lie, I think I actually looked pretty good. My self esteem went from 0 to 100 real quick.

"Now let's get the Indian suit (dress) on!" The hair stylists said clapping her hands together and smiling widely.

"My favorite part!" The makeup stylist squealed. I laughed and stood up. My mom handed me the engagement dress that was in a dry cleaning bag. I walked to the changing room and the stylists trailed behind me.

"Um, not to be rude but, what are you doing?" I asked them as I tried to close the door.

"Sweetie, you going to be able to put that one yourself, I'm positive about it. We're going to help you." She said smiling.

I finally gave in and let them into the changing room with me. I pulled the dress out of the bag and started to put it on. I thought I could do it myself but, boy was I wrong. I needed them to help me so much. I was actually glad that I let them in, or I didn't  know how i would have ever got the dress on.
