I immediately dropped my paper, I can't believe that it's him. The rest of the class period I didn't pay attention, but then again I never do in this class.
The bell rang and I was the first out the door. I walked to my next class which was Earth Systems, technically it was Science but they wanted a weird name for it.
Anyways I sat down next to the seat where Sterling usually sits and I sighed. I pulled out my binder and pencil along with my iPad. I heard laughter and I turned to see that this kid Charlie had a horse head on.
"Charlie!" A kid yelled, holding his phone as if recording something," take your headphones out!"
Charlie stared at the Kid before another kid walked up to Charlie with a monkey head on. Things were deadly silent before the guy in the monkey head stepped closer and smacked the horse head.
I burst out in laughter and as did the class.Charlie and the kid took off their masks and smiled before doing some weird handshake that guys do.
I turned back around in my seat and almost screamed because Sterling had come back. He was standing next to me, ready to say something but me flinching made him let out a small chuckle instead.
"Screw You Sterling," I said hastily. I covered my heart and forced a smile. We all quieted down as the class started. Throughout the class I kept my eye on the clock, my heart beating faster every time I saw the long hand move towards the 6.
I tried to focus on my work, but with it getting closer and closer to 2:30 I just couldn't. Soon enough, though, the teacher told us to pack up and stack our chairs on the table. I stood by the door and leaned my head against it as I had almost a perfect view of the football field. Sterling walked up next to me and saw what I was staring at.It seemed to click in his mind as he opened his mouth.
"Your not going to the field are you?" He asked. I turned my head towards him and shrugged.
"I'm still deciding..."I mumbled.
What will happen if I go?That was basically the only question that lingered in my mind as my eyes still fixated on the field.
Screw it! I'm going"I'm going," I said. Only loud enough for Sterling to hear.
He looked at me almost immediately.
"Your what?" He said, eyes slightly wide."I'm going to the field." I said. Sterling shifted between his feet, looking at the ground. I looked back over at the field, planning out mentally what I was going to say and how I was going to act.
"Listen Kris--" Sterling had started to say but was cut off by the annoying sound of the bell. I walked quickly out of the classroom and to my locker to grab my longboard. I turned around to almost body slam into Brandon.
"Your not going to the field." He said. I placed my hand on my hip and looked up.
"Try and stop me." I said," if something goes wrong I'll take care of myself."Brandon stayed quiet as I waited.
"Thought so." I said as I tried walking away. I felt a hand grab my backpack and pull. I stumbled backwards and looked towards Brandon.
"Just let me follow you?" He asked. I sighed and looked at the ground.
"Fine, but try and not to be seen." I muttered, continuing my way out. My heart beat in my ears as I exited out the door. In a matter of minutes I would be facing him. I pushed past the fact it was him and continued there. The gates to the football field were open and I saw three silhouettes towards the North field goal. I glanced back at me and saw Brandon walking a few yards behind me. I walked through the gates and trudged through the grass. My feet carried onward as I thought of a plan to escape if things go wrong.
I kept my board at my side and continued. The silhouettes became clearer and clearer until I saw their faces.
Of course, as I had thought, Carter was standing in the middle with a soft smirk on his face. The other two were people I have never seen before. One had short black hair done up in a short quiff. He had soft green eyes and seemed a bit mean. He was dressed in a plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, he also had some skinny jeans on.
Definitely avoid eye contact with him.The next boy, on the other hand, had shaggy brown hair which he had to flick to the side every few seconds. He had a simple faded blue hoodie and some jeans.
I approached and glared at Carter. He smirked and stepped closer to me.
"What?" I hissed, putting my foot back slightly. See this was useful in a situation like this. If they get too close you have two options, kick or pivot. You could kick the person in their.... Area... Or you can pivot quickly and sprint away.Carter faked a shocked look, placing his hand on his chest and sarcastically saying," well that's no way to talk to someone."
I glared at him. Almost ready to swing my board at him then kick him.
"Just get to the point." I spat, hostility dripping from my voice.
"Your going to do a special job for me." He smirked."Why me?" I replied. Carter only smirked.
"See with your two friends protecting you today, I've been suspended for two weeks. And what I had planned was now ruined." He started," And I've been told by my parents and the principals that we all need to get along.""So?" I hissed, narrowing my eyes and glaring up at Carter.
"Your going to do one of two things..." Carter paused," Either your going to act like we're friends so your buddies have to be nice to me or we all go and do something one night. Now with the one night thing we have to end the night on good terms. Because if I'm not able to get along with your douchebag of friends I'm gonna be expelled and most likely killed by my mom."I knew that the last part was sarcasm because of the way Carter rolled his eyes as he said it. My mind was spinning in circles as I thought about the choices.
If I'm friends with him, I'd have to deal with his ass longer than I want to. And, if I tell Brandon and Sterling that me and Carter are friends they might hate me.
And if we all go out one night, that might not work since I have no idea what will work."Well?" Carter asked after a couple minutes had passed.
"Okay.... How about we try both methods?" I suggested.
"Both?" Carter questioned.
"We'll go out one night with Brandon and Sterling and if that doesn't work then after a couple days we'll tell them that we're friends...." I trailed off, diverting my eyes to the ground."Carter, bro, that might actually work." The guy with the black hair said. Carter nodded, pacing on his feet for a minute.
"Here." Carter said, pulling out a pen and grabbing my arm.
"HEY--" I was rudely cut off by Carter shushing me.He wrote 10 digits on my hand and I saw that it turned out to be a number.
"Text me if you have anymore idea--" Carter paused and looked up. I looked back and saw Sterling and Brandon walking across the field.
"C'mon guys lets go." Carter commanded, waving his hand as he turned and started walking away. I looked down at the digits and bit the inside of my cheek.
"Kris." Brandon said," you alright?"
I looked up at Brandon and nodded, my throat slightly caught as I thought about wither or not to tell Brandon and Sterling about what just happened. I decided against it and smiled.
"Yeah. I'm fine." I responded to Brandon.+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_
