Walking On Air

The End Of Sophomore Year Ends With A Bang.

(That is Kris Now. I wanted to have her look somewhat different but didn't want to use the same person because once people change they never look the same.)

I walked into the school, Kaden right behind me. I looked to my right and saw Sterling talking to Lily. What does he want? It's been more than a year since he's made any effort to talk to me and he's suddenly buddy buddy with my friends?

Sterling looked up at me and paused. He seemed stunned by my appearance.
"Take a picture." I hissed,"It'll last longer."

"I'll see you guys later." Sterling mumbled towards Lily before running off.
Lily has been a little more quiet lately, she doesn't talk about much anymore since Christian died. It's been a full year since he commuted suicide and Lily still seemed pretty upset about it.

"Hey guys." She smiled, she was wearing Christians Suicide Silence hoodie and some black jeans.
"Hey you." I smiled, poking her arm.

Kaden wrapped his arm around my shoulder,"What were you and soccer douche talking about?"
Lily glared,"Things, Kaden."

Kaden rolled his eyes,"Unless ya'll are planning to fuck, don't even talk to him."

Lily glared even more,"I'm not afraid to kick your ass here and now."
Kaden moved his arm from my shoulder. Shit.
"You need to cool your shit." You have no right speaking to me like that." He hissed, getting really close to Lily.

"Of course I do." She snapped back,"You have treated me like shit ever since Christian died."

"He died because he didn't want to be around you anymore." Kaden spat. Lily widened her eyes. But just as quick as her shock came, it was gone. I could feel the anger now surging through her. Shit is about to get bad.
Before I could pull Kaden away, Lily punched him, hard.
Kaden stumbled, holding his jaw. Lily attacked again, kicking him in the stomach.

I started yelling,"You guys cut it out!"

Kaden grabbed Lily and pushed her against the wall.  His arm was around her neck, and Lily's feet were flat against the wall.
She bent her knees and pushed hard. Kaden stumbled, letting go of Lily. She turned and threw a quick punch to his nose and again.

Kaden fell back into the floor. I decided to try and step in. Lily only pushed me away. "Stay out of this." She hissed. Kaden was lying on the ground, his hand cradling his nose. Blood was seeping through the spaces between his fingers. She kicked him hard in the ribs before yelling,"You can go fuck yourself. I'm done with you."

Lily stomped off. I ran up to Kaden.
The school cop came by quickly and asked what happened.
I explained what happened and what direction Lily went. The cop told me to take Kaden to the nurses office and stay with him there.

He quickly ran off to go find Lily.

Lily was yelling, I don't know what she was saying, but she wasn't happy. I was sitting in the same chair I had a year ago when the fight between Carter, Brandon, and Sterling broke out. Kaden left school early to go get his nose fixed. Lily actually had broken it. Doesn't surprise me, she hit him pretty hard.

The door to the principals office opened and Lily was visible. She was crying. I kept my head low, avoiding eye contact. The school cop brought her towards the front of the office. The principal was now in the doorway. He walked calmly over to me and sat down next to me.
"Was Kaden really harassing Lily?" He asked calmly. I nodded,"When we walked in, Lily was talking to one of my old friends. Kaden made some comment about how if they aren't going to.. Do the nasty... Then they shouldn't talk at all."

"Kaden said this in reference to him?" He asked. I shook my head,"No. In reference to my old friend and Lily. She told him that she wouldn't hesitate to kick Kadens ass. Kaden got mad and Lily called him out on how he's been treating her like crap since... Well since something happened a year ago. And Kaden made this really messed up comment and that was a breaking point I guess."

The principal nodded,"Now, did you try to stop this fight?"

"Yes, but Lily pushed me away before I could stop her."I replied shakily,"Is she going to get expelled?"

He shook his head,"Just a few weeks detention. This is her first fight so I'm letting her go easy."

I nodded, before he continued,"What exactly was this messed up comment Kaden made?"

That's when Lily's calm voice was heard,"He said my ex killed himself because he could stand to be around my anymore."

The principal looked back at Lily,"He really said that?"

Lily nodded,"I wasn't going to let him treat me like shit any longer. He was starting to take it far but I ended it."

"I'll make sure to have a chat with Kaden when he returns to school." He said towards Lily,"Now the both of you get to class. I'll see you after school, Lily."

We both nodded and I grabbed my stuff. Lily and I walked side by side, in awkward silence.

"Hey." She said,"I'm sorry for beating up your boyfriend. You understand why I did it right?"

I nodded, looking ahead,"He was saying some pretty messed up crap. But you did take it a bit far."

"He tried choking me," she muttered,"So I broke his nose, it's only fair."

I looked at her neck, she wasn't lying. There was a purple line starting to form around her neck. Was Kaden really choking her?

Lily walked to class but I decided to skip my class. I sat in the lunchroom, alone, until Sterling and Brandon showed up. Brandon's hair had grown longer, but not too much longer. He had it back to his original hair color.
Sterling sat down next to me.
"Kris...." He started,"We need to talk."

I should probably stop ending chapters like that huh? But here's a pretty lit chapter. Hope you enjoyed and I just want to say thanks for the 100+ reads!!
Should I add a cast for these kids? I mean I can but I would have to just do a little more research to match their descriptions.
