Waking up to Sulamith licking her nose, Stevie opened her puffy red eyes. She had been crying most the night and feeling guilty, throwing Lindsey out on to the couch when he wanted to hold her. It was rough but at the time it felt right, right to give him a cold shoulder with how he had even attempted such a stupid game with Brett.
Looking at the time, Stevie rolled on to her back and looked at the side of the bed Lindsey normally would have been inhabiting. Sigh, he was supposed to be the jealous type - not her!
Blowing some of her hair off of her face, she got herself up from the bed, taking Sulamith out of the room to put her leash on. She pretended to ignore him as she passed the couch in the Family room, opening the front door as she took her dog out to potty. Thank God they had another two days off until their next show, Stevie knowing that she would need to visit a spa to get rid of all the tension in her shoulders. If she suffered from tension in her upper body, that would cause her vocals to strain and that would just damage them in the process.
Turning back to head in to the house, she froze, Lindsey was leaning up against the doorway...shirtless and in his shorts, looking incredibly eatable as she cleared her throat and walked underneath his arm that was leaning against the wooden frame. He closed the door behind her and then she let Sulamith off her leash as she trotted in to the kitchen to start eating from her dish, Stevie smiled and then turned back around to face Lindsey again. It looked as if he was about to cry, arms wrapped around himself as he stared in her direction. Lindsey wanted nothing more than to hold her, to kiss her, to tell her that she was the only woman for him.
"Good morning," Stevie said nonchalantly as she headed towards the kitchen, opening the fridge for some orange juice and then starting a pot of coffee. It was near noon so that was the perfect time for her to be waking up, Lindsey had probably already been up for a few hours. She, afterall, was the one that had the bedroom and all his clothing was in there. He wouldn't have been able to shower either, knowing that was one of the first things he'd do after waking up.
"Morning," he responded monotone as he followed her, pulling out a chair at the table and sitting down. He ran a hand through his hair and it was always extremely sexy to her, pretending that it didn't effect her as she sat down next to him.
"Did you sleep?" she asked, sipping on her cup of juice, watching Sulamith eat.
"Barely, so I'm glad that we're off again today," leaning his elbow on to the table as he pressed his fist to his chin.
"I slept but not well," wrapping her fingers around the glass. "Yesterday was hard on me and I guess I took things harder than need be," finally looking him in the eyes. "You just really upset me, you know? Watching you with those beautiful young women, knowing that I used to be able to wear such bikinis and get all the men..." spacing out as she stared across the room. "I was just jealous and felt in competition, as I've never had to really compete before, men always wanted me...now they claim that they wouldn't touch me at my age but if I was younger, they would. It's hard on a woman and men don't get that flack like us. Sometimes it hurts and then sometimes I just don't care but I did yesterday..." lashes falling.
Lindsey's eyes filled with tears, reaching out to touch her hand, "Stephanie, those women may still have their youth but I wouldn't trade you for the world. Besides," squeezing her hand, "...I like a real woman. I want her to have curves everywhere and intelligence," bringing her hand up to kiss. "You are all of that, baby."
His words touched her, blinking as her own tears fell, wiping them away with her free hand. "I'm just," sighing as her bottom lip trembled, she was so emotional, "...I am in too deep with you, it's so heavy, so positive right now and I don't want to lose it."
