Waking up with out Stevie was nearly impossible, his hand moving across the sheets where she had recently been, catching a strand of her long blonde hair in between his fingers and watching it shimmer in the light. It was always so hard for them, always a dark tunnel that they could never find the light at the supposed end. She's been his life for over fourty years, having her these last few weeks as his own, to hear her tell him how much she wanted to be married to him, was more than he could have ever hoped for. When he asked her to marry him again, he was for sure thinking she'd put him down but when she gave him that little glimmer of hope, he realized that things had finally come full circle.
Reaching for his phone, he hoped to see a message from Stevie, as she never did call him last night to let him know what room she was in. What was she so afraid of? They were finally going to be together, isn't that what she wanted? To tell the world that their love was stronger than the two of them ever thought possible?
This keeping herself seperated from him was incredibly painful. Lindsey was so attached to her, so much a part of her again, her partner in crime forever.
Getting up out of bed, Lindsey finally got the urge to shower, standing underneath the water as he placed his hands up against the tile. It was cold, not like touching her, as they shared so much in this shower and now it had to end - not like it wouldn't have ended there anyway but he thought they'd spend the remainder of the tour there.
Stepping out of the shower, he dried himself off then hung the towel around his neck, brushing his teeth and then heading back out in to the bedroom where he saw he had a message on his phone. He opened up his voicemail and learned it was from his lawyer, telling him that he had received papers from Kristen's lawyer stating that she was more than ready for this divorce - that she had been seeing someone on the side while he had been on tour. Kristen didn't think that it would have turned in to more than just sex but it turned in to a relationship and she was willing to break the marriage they held for seventeen years.
Lindsey shook his head as he sat on the edge of the bed, tossing his phone across the mattress as he couldn't even get his brain to wrap around what he just heard. So, this whole time when she had been disappointed in him for taking on an affair with an ex girlfriend...and she was actually doing the same thing? Sleeping with someone else secretly? What a joke and she probably would have continued the affair with out him knowing it if he didn't file. It at least made him feel less guilty about what he had done, wanting to call Stevie but knowing that there would be no way in hell she'd be up this early.
Packing away all his things back in to his suitcase, Lindsey called up the owner to the house that he had rented from, letting them know that he would be checking out earlier than presumed and hoping he could meet up to make sure he could drop off the key. There was no use for Lindsey in this house anymore, it made it cold with out the warmth of Stevie's soul accompanying it.

The pain with out Lindsey by her side was unimaginable. How could it be that about a month ago, they were at each other's throats again and couldn't wait to get away from each other, and then these last few weeks have been the complete opposite? It was as if she was missing a part of her heart, literally a part of herself as she lay alone in that large King size bed in her suite. She let a smile appear across her face, knowing that she was acting silly - this wasn't a goodbye, it was just a temporary setup until everything could be smoothed out. She'd just gotten so used to him being there, opening her eyes and seeing his beautiful face. They'd definitely proved to themselves that they were ready, ready to be together again after such a long hiatus.
It was going on one in the afternoon and Stevie was still laying in that bed, thinking and occasionally falling back asleep, Sulamith whining and then Stevie having to call Karen to let her go outside to do her business. Karen looking Stevie over as she was still in her nightgown, hair a mess, and not interested in doing anything outside of her room. It was normal for Stevie to coop herself up though when she was on tour, Karen finding it shocking that she had actually went out and did such things with Lindsey, really hoping for her this time since Lindsey has appeared to be the biggest regret of her life. All Stevie needed was love because she had everything else.
