"Bella! Belle!" Summer slammed her hands on Bella's door.

"I'm not home. I swear." Bella hid her face in her arms.

"Haha. Funny. Now open the damn door!" Summer pushed at the door.

"Haha. Funny." Bella mimicked. "No."

Someone punched Bella in her shoulder. "Ha. You forgot that there is a key under the toad." Summer laughed triumphantly.

"Crap. I totally spaced." Bella stood up. "Where's Ell?"

"She had something to do. I dunno. Probably something band-geeky." Summer handed Bella her backpack.

"Knowing her? Yeah." Bella grabbed the backpack and slung it over her shoulder. "Let's go." Bella bounded out the door, making a beeline for the car.

"BELLA! Wait!" Summer shouted.

"Yes?" Bella turned, her long hair swishing past her ears.

"You're still in your pajamas." Summer raised a skeptical eyebrow.

"Great." Bella mumbled, running past Summer, up the stairs and into her bedroom.

Ugh. Clothes. Bella thought. Ok. Purple ruffle shirt, black leggings, black ankle boots. Done. Bella ran back down the stairs, yelling, "Race you to the car!"

"You're on!" Summer ran after her.

Bella and Summer tumbled into the car at the same time. "Tie?" Summer asked.

"Tie." Bella gasped, breathless. "Hi, Mr. Robins." Bella greeted.

"Hey Belle. How's the Beast?" He asked .

"The Beast is actually called middle school and you are driving us to our doom, Gaston." She shot back.

Summer rolled her eyes and laughed. "Dorks. Anyway, Bella, did you want to go the diner after school today? Please?"She begged.

"Well, I can never say no when you beg so....no." Bella smiled.

"Please?" Summer was pulling on Bella's coat sleeve.

"Ugh. Fine. But we have to invite Ella, she's been feeling left out." Bella caved.

"Yeah but you've known her since, like, birth. We only met in third grade." Summer stated.

"That's true, but you live in the house right next to mine, so we have lots of unscheduled sleepovers." Bella scolded.

"Well then, she shouldn't have lived in the rich people neighborhood." Summer rooted through her pockets for her phone.

"Sum, we live in Grace Hollow. I don't think there is a "rich neighborhood"." Bella made air quotes with her fingers.

"True. But have you seen Ella's house? It's like a freaking mansion!" Summer made huge gestures.

"Summer Lark Robins! I never!" Bella fanned her face dramatically.

"Summer..." Her dad warned.

"Fine." Summer slumped in her seat.

Mr. Robins pushed his glasses up. "Sum, remember that your going to mom's house this weekend. I have to go on that conference."

"Do I have too? Mom lives on the other side of town! Can't I stay with Belle? Sunny could stay too!" Summer begged.

"Can you take Summer and Sunshine this weekend, Bella?" Mr. Robins asked.

"Sure. I'll just ask my mo-" Bella froze.
