Hey guys! I'm back. Sorry for the long gap after updating back to back last week. I was out of town over the weekend and school was busy this week. I'm getting really into this story, I hope I'm not the only one... Okay I'll shut up now.
*Claire's POV Still*
After school ended I sat in the school lobby waiting for my little brother. I was listening to music and working on my Spanish homework since he texted me earlier saying he had to stay after school for half an hour to get tutoring for math. His grades have been slipping since our mom died, so I made him get help without letting our dad know. He didn't need anything else to worry about.I looked at the time on my phone; 3:20PM, ten more minutes before he was done. I put away my Spanish materials and got up to start heading towards his math class, I had nothing better to do. I walked down the hallway and turned left to go towards the math hallway. I sent my dad a text letting him know we were going to be late. Not looking where I was going, I walked straight into someone and made them drop all of their stuff on the ground. I looked up, ready to apologize, and saw it was my little brother. He must've got out a couple minutes early.
"Wow sis, I don't like math either but that's no reason to knock my stuff on the ground." I bent down to pick his things up for him.
"Sorry Dev, you ready?" I asked my little brother handing him his books back.
"Yeah, let's roll." We headed for the exit and towards my car. When we were both in and ready to go, I turned on the car and pulled out of the parking lot. Devin tilted his head a little when I turned right instead of left to go home.
"Um, where are we going?" He asked.
"You hungry? I'm hungry." I pulled into the parking lot to McDonald's and turned into the drive-thru. "What do you want? I'm buying." I told him as I took my wallet out.I ordered our food and we ate in the parking lot. We talked about how our days went and I told him about my run in with Shane and the weird thing that happened with Trevor in English, I didn't tell him about the bathroom and how I sat in there and cried for most of the class and lunch. I felt like that part could be left out.
"So what do you have planned for this weekend?" I asked him as I took a sip of my soda.
"Nothing, Jesse invited me to this party thats being thrown by some senior chick tonight. I might go just for fun." He shrugged and continued to eat his burger.I stiffened, Jesse was a junior and a friend of my little brothers, they'd been friends for a while and Jesse was pretty much friends with everyone. No wonder he got invited to a senior party.
"You know my rule, just be careful. No drinking or smoking. No drugs in general, and if-"
"And if anything goes wrong I call you and you'll come get me. Yeah, I know. I'll be careful." He cut me off and rolled his eyes.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I just worry about you, okay? You're just a freshman and some of these seniors are sketchy. I just don't want you to get in trouble or anything like that." I said trying to defend my overprotectiveness. Devin was one of my last family members alive, so of course I'd worry."Do you need a ride there or back?" I asked.
He shook his head. "No, I'm going with Jesse, I think Jazzy and Jesse's girlfriend are coming too."
Jazzy (or Jasmine) is Devin's girlfriend. She's about 5 foot which is hilarious because Devin is about 5'9 and when they stand next to each other she looks like a child. I think she must've been a premature baby because she's super skinny. She has red hair and glasses and she's super shy. I was pretty surprised she was going, she hates parties because she's so quiet no one can ever hear her over the loud music. She has to text people if she wants to say something to them. Jesse's girlfriend, Amber, was the complete opposite though. She's loud, outgoing, and very much okay with being out in public. She's the girl you see dancing on tables and drinking immense amounts of alcohol, yet she never has a hangover and never does anything to embarrass herself. It's amazing."Well just be sure to call me or text me if you need me, and I expect you to check in with me every so often so I know you're okay." I said throwing my trash in the bag and starting the car.
"Yes mother." He said sarcastically and turned up the music. I rolled my eyes and drove us home.A/N: Alright I'll admit this is kind of a fill in chapter but it's mildly important later on. It's basically just here to set up for things that are going to go down in the next chapter and to tell who the characters are and why they are going to this party. Anyways, hope you liked it. Leave a comment to let me know what you thought, I'll update tomorrow probably so stay tuned!
(This chapter is not edited yet as I am posting very late and just want to get this out there. Please forgive any mistakes that have been made, I'm probably going to have someone read over this for me and send me the mistakes so I can fix them later. So please don't worry if I messed up anywhere in this part)
