"Your highness" Secretary Richards calls as he bursts into my office, I frown.

"What's the matter, Secretary?" I ask.

"Her highness has attempted to take her life" he answers, I open my eyes like plates as I stand.

"WHAT?!" I snap.

"Lady Miranda informed Prince Nicolai about how upset her highness was and she asked him to check on her highness, when Prince Nicolai went to her highness's room, his highness heard a loud sound, as if  someone had fell, worried, his highness ordered Lady Miranda to unlock the door, and the walked into the gruesome scene" Secretary Richards answers, I curse under my breath.

"Where is Amelia?" I ask

"Prince Nicolai is taking her highness to the medical wing"  Secretary Richards answers, I start to walk towards the exit.

"Lady Miranda found a letter, your highness"  Secretary Richards says, I stop walking as I look at him.

"She gave it to me, now I hand it to you, your highness" he says as he hands me an envelope.

"Does my father know about this?" I ask

"His majesty is been informed as we speak, your highness" he answers.

"I will be in the medical wing in a minute, please, leave me" I say, Secretary Richards bows as he exits the room.

I open the letter.

I give up. I cannot keep up living like this.

I want out and this is the only way.

No. She doesn't give up. She always fights.

This much suffering, pain, damage I have done to her, this I have pushed her to become.

What I have done?

"Nicolai..." I go silent as I spot the blood in his clothing.

"I do not know, the doctors are still trying to save her life" he says, answering the unasked question.

"It is my fault" I say.

"That cannot be denied" he says.

"I told her that Mindy was pregnant" I say.

"She loves you, Max, telling her that..." "Destroyed her, I know, I saw it" I say.

"If you love her, if you are willing to make her happy, now it is the time to do it" Nicolai says, I look at him.

"Mindy..." "She is not pregnant, I helped her fake a pregnancy test" Nicolai says.

"What?" I ask.

"I was determined to get the crown by any means, Mindy, just like most  of the things I have done, was a mean to an end, but if I knew this would be the outcome, I would have forgotten about the crown a long time ago" Nicolai answers

"I guess what I am saying, Maximilian, is that I am as guilty as you are, I do not know about you, but Amelia doesn't deserve this, and the best way I can make it better for her is by giving up the crown and I am giving her up as well" Nicolai says as he stares at the door of the trauma room.

I sigh as I run my hands through my hair.

"You know what you have to do to make it up to her" Nicolai says.

"What I should have done the moment I married her, become her husband" I say.

"I am stepping down, because I am responsible of her pain, but know this Maximilian, if you ever harm, if because of you she sheds a tear, I am going to take her away" Nicolai says.
