Runaways: Day 1.

"We're here," Was what she heard before a hand on her shoulder was shaking her gently, pulling her out of her peaceful slumber. "C'mon, up you get."

She cracked her eyes open, groaning slightly as she sat up in the uncomfortable seat of the bus. Her back ached from sleeping in an odd position, and she was sure she looked like a right mess, but she couldn't bring herself to care too much because she didn't know where she was and a part of her didn't care.

She was with someone she was completely infatuated with, and that was enough to put a smile on her face.

She pushed herself up from the seat, rubbing at her eyes as she shuffled down the middle of the bus with Stiles following close behind. They hopped off the bus, and she finally allowed herself to take a look around the area.

They must have been travelling for a while, as it had gotten dark again. It didn't really look much different from the gas station they left from, though this one looked a lot more looked after, and it seemed as though it was in the middle of absolutely no where.

Nothing but dirt hills traveled on for miles, and the place was deserted besides the two of them and a few others who were hung around the gas station, cigarettes hanging from their lips.

"Where are we?" She asked.

Stiles simply shrugged with a smile on his face, answering, "I don't have a clue. It was the last stop on the bus' schedule."

His answer brought a funny feeling to her stomach, a smile to her face as he took her hand in his, giving it a squeeze before he was running off, pulling her behind him. She didn't know what he was doing, where he was taking her, but she didn't question him.

Instead, she followed closely behind, both of their laughs filling the air around them as they sprinted toward the deserted road. Her hair blew behind her back, the cool night breeze creating a contrast between the heat that had creeped up onto her cheeks from laughing so much.

When they both got too exhausted to run any further, they slowed down their pace to a walk.

They continued to walk for a while longer, enjoying each other's silent company until the headlights of an approaching vehicle lit up the distance.

"Ever hitchhiked before?" Stiles asked her, and she couldn't help but laugh gently.

"Not until the day I met you."

He flashed her an innocent smile, holding her hand a little tighter while he brought the other one up to put his thumb up, waiting for the approaching vehicle to get close enough to see them.

When it did, it swerved to the side of the road before coming to a stop.

"Jump on!" The stranger shouted from the drivers side window, and Stiles sent him a grateful smile before he was tugging on her hand, pulling her to the back of the truck and urging her to jump onto the back tray. She did as told, climbing onto the metal tray while Stiles followed closely behind.

Once they were both safely on he banged on the tray a couple of times, letting the driver know they were on. He began to drive again, and the two made themselves comfortable.

Stiles sat leaning against the side while she sat between his legs, head resting against his chest while she struggled to catch her breath between the laughs that were still bubbling from her lips.

"I love you." Stiles found himself whispering into her ear, and his words cut off her breathless laughter. Everything fell silent, the only thing audible was her breathing and the rumbling of the truck on the rocky road.

She turned to face him, face pulled into a shocked expression while she searched his eyes for some sort of explanation, or maybe regret. When she couldn't find either, she found herself getting lost in the brown hue of his dark eyes instead.

"I-I love you too." She answered breathlessly, and Stiles didn't hesitate to push himself that little bit closer to her, locking their lips together, sealing them in the perfect moment.

And in that moment, neither of them had ever felt so free, so in love than they did right now.
