After she said yes we went straight into planning for the wedding. The only problem with that was she was deploying for Afghanistan in 3 months.

Ever since she was a little girl she always wanted to serve for her country just like her father. She felt like she had to finish what he had started. He died in an ambush when she was only 10 years old. So she never really got the chance to know him.

Before she left we planned on when the wedding would be, where it would be at, and the beginning of the invitations. It was coming along pretty well. Everyday we would Skype and talk about the wedding and how everything was. My mom would constantly interrupt beacause she was paying for most of it.

Two months before she was set to come back home something terrible had happened. The base that she was staying had was ambushed and there was said to be no survivors. When I got the news I fell apart. The first question I asked was "When can we see her?" And I kept getting the same answer. "We cannot find her body, I'm sorry." It was awful!

We had a ceremony for her but never a funeral beacause it didn't feel right to bury her remains even though we couldn't find them.

It's been 4 years since her "death" and not a day goes by that I don't think about Lily. I miss her so much.
