The wolf laid down at my feet, licked its paws and went to sleep. I was puzzled, it looked so vicious and here it was, just laying down right next to me. I wondered if it was trying to help me. I wanted to see how it would react if I tried to get closer. Jim was the other side of the clearing, growling at the wolf but not getting any closer. I didn't blame him, the wolf was terrifying.
If the wolf wanted to it would kill me anyway so I decided to see what would happen if I got closer to it. I slowly edged my way along the ground, getting closer and closer to the wolf. It was 30cm away, then 25cm away, then 15cm away, then 5cm away, then I was next to him. I laid down, I thought about putting my head on his back, knowing his body heat and fur would warm me up.
Did I dare?
Was it worth risking death?
I could die anyway
I slowly lifted my head, trembling, I looked down at the wolfs fur, it looked softer than i expected. I started slowly lowering my head towards the wolfs back.
