Cameron sat there staring, he watched as his bat ate from the new bugs in its cage, it flew back and forth landing every so often to take another prey. “You have the easy life” Cameron said as if addressing the bat, “You don’t have to worry about vampires getting you, them coming back and finding you, hurting the ones you love, you don’t have to worry about any of that” he knew the bat would not respond he just needed something to talk to, to speak his mind. Cameron sighed as his bat took the last of the insects and ate it, “That’s all your getting” he said with a smile and stood up, he had to feed his tarantula now, he picked a few of the tarantula’s favourite insects and tossed them into the tank. Cameron watched how the tarantula ate too, he didn’t speak to it like he spoke to the bat but he still knew this pet had another one of the easy lives. He sighed, as soon as the tarantula was done eating he took it out and sat with it in his hands, he was petting the tarantula like it was a common household cat. The tarantula didn’t mind it sat there in Cameron’s hands as he pet it, after a few minutes Cameron stood up again, putting the pet back into its tank. The tarantula walked around a while in its aquarium, Cameron thought maybe it was expecting more food, he laughed slightly “No, that’s it no more bugs for today” he said as the tarantula continued walking around, the tarantula knew it wasn’t getting any more food now and took rest in a corner of the tank.
Cameron always loved watching his pets eat, they weren’t the average pet but he still loved them, he remembered how he got them because of his interest in vampires, he wanted to sell them that night he tore up the posters, but in the end he decided to keep them, even if they reminded him of vampires and what a great interest he had for them before. Now he had much less of an interest, he would live a happy care free life if he never saw one again, he still read books and legends every now and again though, the things he found only slightly amazed him now, the legends were old and he knew the vampires were real, but he didn’t know if all the legends were true, he found crazy ones of vampires going rouge and attacking their own kind, stories of vampires that would crave to fight, so when they didn’t have humans around they took the fight to their blood brothers. He also found stories of kind caring vampires, they treated each one as if they were family, and they had made a vow not to kill humans when they would feast, he assumed Kayla was one of those vampires seeing how she spared his life. Hearing these legends he accepted that some vampires were different, there was vampires like Kayla the kind that wouldn’t kill if it wasn’t needed, and then there were vampires like Parker, the cold blooded beasts, they don’t care for humans, they find they are scum therefore they could care less if one died when they feasted on a humans blood. Remembering Parker Cameron got angrier, he wanted to hurt that vampire, he wanted to see him bleeding, and see the vampire have nothing to do, for it to be down to chance if he survived or not luckily he wouldn’t have to hunt him down. Cameron wasn’t the kind of person to kill but he wanted Parker hurt, if he died Cameron would be happy, he wouldn’t weep over the lost life, Parker meant nothing to Cameron and he wanted it to stay that way. Even though he didn’t want to care for that vampire, he wanted to learn about his new acquaintance, he wanted to find a legend about him, like he had seen about Kayla, find out something about his past, about him being a vampire, how he was.
Cameron was disappointed when searching through the legends he had to find nothing about the vampire Parker. “Come on!” Cameron shouted hitting his books, though he had no idea of Parker he had an idea, Tyler had showed Cameron the legend about Kayla, maybe he could find a legend about Parker in that book. Tyler Cameron thought of his friend, how he ended up hurt because Cameron wanted to search for Kayla, he regretted that night and blamed himself, if Tyler died Cameron didn’t know what he would do.
Luck was on Cameron’s side, days after the incident Tyler got better he was back on his feet in no time, his neck was even healed better then Cameron’s shoulder had gotten, it was scarred but not nearly is much as Cameron. In fact you couldn’t even notice the scar unless you looked real closely. Tyler was at his house now, probably reading up on vampires Cameron thought, he had to call to make sure, he didn’t want to go over to Tyler’s home without making sure it was ok, he dialled Tyler’s number quickly and the pick up was even faster, within one ring there was an answer.
