Rick Savage, Tony Kenning and Pete Willis, all high schoolers, formed a band called Atomic Mass in 1977. Soon, Tony and Pete dropped out, doubting that this group would make it far. Rick continued to find band mates and soon adopted the name Def Leppard.

Did you know?:

•After releasing their album Through The Night which had many songs like "Hello America", fans were furious that they wanted to appeal to American audiences and they began throwing bottles filled with urine to the band on stage!! Ewwww gross!!

•It was originally spelled 'Deaf Leopard' but they modified it to make it seem less like that of a punk band
