Soph basically laughed her way into McDonald's, and it is quite the walk there. "I just can't believe you called her Satan," she says between laughs. "That's so funny, poor woman."
"It isn't that funny," I say rolling my eyes. "Soph, it's your duty to be on my side. It's poor me, not poor woman. Have you forgotten what she did to me? Satan gave me detention for one whole week, including Friday, who does that? Either I fall in love or fall into insanity."
"Or — you don't fall in love nor into insanity."
"I'm a lesbian, Soph. We don't work like that."
"I get it, I'm straight and even I would fall in love with that woman. Tall; sarcastic; rich; extremely toxic; basically a mommy," she says counting on her fingers.
"Sophie Abebe, you are not straight."
"No, I am straight, for now," she says as we finally make it into the fast-food restaurant. "Women intimidate me, dude. But I do want to experiment."
"Well, that makes you bicurious."
"That sounds too official, maybe I'll never have the courage and then I'll feel like a bicurious failure," she says dramatically as we order our food through the self-ordering kiosk. "But back to Ms. Bootylicious —"
I interrupt her with a groan, she'll never let this go. "She's not as mean as I thought she would be — no, she's definitely mean — just not as mean."
She scoffs.
"You're not helping, Soph."
"Anna, the woman gave you a whole week of detention for using your phone on the first day. You're just saying that because she's hot."
"Well — you're right."

Today I was early at school, I didn't want to get in any more trouble with Miss Evans. In reality, I actually wanted to get closer to her, impress her maybe?
I walk up to my locker remembering what she had said about me not bringing anything to her class and got my calculus notebook out. It was really just a random notebook I have had around my locker for some years now, I don't even remember buying it. Maybe I just borrowed it from someone at some point — well, now it's mine.
I still have around 10 minutes until the first bell and the hallways were empty. People don't get here until the last minute really.
Soph and the small group of people that I know are nowhere to be found, it's pretty obvious they wouldn't come to school this early — everyone except one.
I know I can always find her where the nerd students hang aka the student council room, Jenny Waterson as beautiful as ever. I will be honest here, I kinda had a crush on her but honestly who wouldn't? Beautiful and smart, these kinds of people only exist in movies and books.
She still hasn't noticed me looking through the little window on the door, she's too busy looking through a pile of papers. I could knock but I decided to just stare until she senses someone is looking.
"For how long have you been standing there looking at me?" She asks, opening the door, an amused smile on her face.
"Just for a few seconds," I smirk. "You have a good 6th sense."
Although I kind of like her and I'm sure she kind of likes me too, I don't think we would make a good pair — because first, she has extremely Catholic parents and well, I'm Jewish. Even though religion shouldn't matter, it does, not for me of course but the last thing I want to deal with right now are angry Christian parents.
