Power Controlling Ring - Chapter 6

Power. I need more power!

I was constantly hearing a demonic voice repeating this over and over. It wasn't long before I figured out the voice was resonating from my lips.

"Is she okay?" I could hear Percy's voice say somewhere outside the dark abyss I was trapped in. "We aren't sure. That wave really messed her and Ashes up." Annabeth replied, sounding a little distraught.

Suddenly, the darkness began to subside and I could see my surroundings. Percy, Annabeth, Piper, Johnny and Hallie were standing around me while I lied on a cot. My face began to heat up from all of the attention focused on me, "Uh..." My voice sounded grainy as I said my first words, I quickly cleared my throat, "What happened?"

They looked at eachother for a few seconds before Hallie said, "You basically went on a fiery rampage through the camp and part of the forest." Everyone looked directly at her with scowls, and she looked back like an innocent little girl, "What? It's what happened. She asked what happened so-" Jason cut her off from behind her in the doorway. "Hallie, it would be in your best interest to stop talking. Now." He said sternly at her making her go silent instantly.

"Though what she said is right, the question we should be asking is not 'what happened', it's 'why it happened'." We all knew he was right.

"Well, the last thing I remember was finding out Piper was using magic on me sometimes." I said, a little ice in my words. "Let's just think back to what happened before that point and see if anything stands out as a seed for the issue." Jason replied.

"Okay so. Found out I was a child of Hephaestus, went to get ready with Piper, she did my hair, my makeup, picked out some clothes and some jewelry-my ring! She took off my ring!" I said frantically, finally figuring out why the chaos happened, as they all looked at me in confusion, "My ring is suppose to help me control my powers. My dad told me in my head."

Their facial expressions began to soften as understanding washed over their minds. In an instant Piper ran out the door to, what I guessed, was to get the ring.

Meanwhile, Percy slowly made his way up closer to me, "Um, sorry about-you know, the wave thing." He said in a low voice. "Uh, I don't know what you're talking about but okay. By the way, where is Ashes?" I asked, his face turned to a frown. "We...uh...couldn't find her in the water." My face began to burn with annoyance at his words. "What?" I asked, I could hear my voice behind to change to a more demon-like tone. "Ashley calm down, your hair-and your eyes are changing!" Hallie said, finally breaking her silence. "What happened to Ashes?! I swear if she is hurt I will-" Suddenly everything was much cooler as Piper slid the ring on my right hand. Once again-everything went black.

Its been about 3 days since I last awoke. All I've been doing is trying to learn my new capabilities and master them.

So far I know that I'm able to shoot normal fireballs, create 'Phoenix Guardians' as Piper calls them, manipulate the air temperature around my body to make myself able to fly and set anything, I focus hard enough on, on fire. Right now Johnny and I are fighting from long-range, him using a bow and I using my powers.

I saw a shadow hide behind a tree, "Please, Johnny. Make this harder for me." I whispered with an evil grin before hurling a fireball the size of a doorknob at the right of the tree trunk, just as I expected, Johnny jumped from the left side of the trunk, arrow aimed at me.

Before the arrow could hit me, I put my arms up in an X, summoning a Guardian. The Guardian used its solid-flame body to take the arrow for me, then turned to ashes and blew away in the wind.

Johnny kept firing arrows at me while I jumped down from the tree I was hiding in. For a son of Apollo, Johnny SUCKS at shooting arrows. I summoned another Guardian and launched it at Johnny. He stepped over a few inches and smirked at me-feeling proud for what he had done. I returned the smirk and pointed behind him, as he turned around the Guardian squawked in his face before exploding in a flash of light.

Chiron, Piper and Annabeth ran over to him to make sure he was alright, "Don't worry, he's fine. It just knocked him out for a bit." I said with a giggle at their concern. A groan from Johnny confirmed what I had said and they relaxed their faces.

"You are a powerful one indeed. Now to were this power came from I do not know." Chiron said to me as he picked up Johnny and began walking to the Apollo cabin. "Even Leo didn't have powers like that, all he could really do was create fire with his hands, not make full-blown phoenixes!" Piper said with a little amazement in her eyes.

"It's strange, how you can do this and not do really anything with metal or machines..." Annabeth said quietly, thinking to herself, "It was still really cool though!"

"You girls go on and eat, I'll make sure Johnny is taken care of." Chiron said and we started walking towards my favorite place in the camp, WHERE THE FOOD IS!

I got what I normally do, a slice of pepperoni pizza, 2 peeled oranges, a salad with honey mustard dressing and a glass of water. Everyday, Piper and Annabeth watch in amazement as I eat all of it and go back for more.

I was on my 3rd slice when I suddenly heard a heavenly voice inside my head, "Well hello my dear granddaughter, I see you are enjoying my gifts. I promise to see you when I get the chance. Be careful!" I stopped mid-slice and Piper and Annabeth looked at me with confused looks. "You okay, Ash?" Annabeth asked.

"I'm fine, just got a sudden headache." I spoke with worry in my voice, I was going to meet my mom's mother?

The loud dining area suddenly got dead silent, "Sorry to interrupt, but Ashley, Piper, Annabeth, you three have been summoned by Zeus himself for an urgent meeting. Pack some clothes immediately and meet me in the big house for information." Mr.D announced, causing me to drop my slice of pizza on the floor.

Sorry it's not a long chapter, I was using this as a more 'filler' chapter if you know what I mean.

The next chapter should be longer, hopefully!
