Gerard and I were hanging out in front of the mall waiting for Mikey to get off of work. I was perched on the edge of a round stone lunch table type thing, dangling my black clad legs back and forth. Gerard's shift at Hot Topic ended an hour before Mikey's (who worked at the Barnes & Noble in the same mall). I offered to wait with him, seeing as I had nothing better to do. We decided to play a game of Truth or Dare to pass the time.

I shook the bag of Sour Skittles I had bought and popped a green one into my mouth before I began quietly humming out of tune. Gerard gave me a disbelieving look with just a hint of a smile before putting his hand in the bag and taking a few. "Truth or dare?" he asked before putting the Skittles in his mouth.

"Truth," I said with a smile on my face, already knowing what he was going to ask.

"Why do you only eat the green ones?" I opened my mouth to reply, but he stopped me before I could, "and don't say they taste better! You do the same thing with M&M's, and those all taste the same!"

I looked down at the bag and shook it again, trying to find another green one. "I don't know, I just like it that way." By that time the bag was already almost gone and only a few orange and yellow ones were left. I sighed and passed the bag to Gerard. "Here, have the rest. All the green ones are gone." He poured the last few into his hand before tossing them in his mouth. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare." He said through a mouthful of Skittles. An evil grin spread across my face as an idea came to mind. Suddenly his carefree expression dropped and a look of worry took its place. "I know that grin. That immoral, wicked grin. What are you going to make me do?"

"I dare you to eat all the sour powder at the bottom of the bag without making a face." I knew he'd take the dare, Gerard wasn't one to back down from a challenge, especially one as petty as a dare.

"That's it? No problem." He tilted his head back and poured the mixture of malic acid and sugar into his mouth. He looked at me with an almost smug expression, but I could see right through it. The corners of his mouth were twitching as he tried not to pucker his lips. I gave him a smile just before his expression broke and it changed to the one I was expecting.

His lips were puckered and his eyes were squeezed tight. I watched as his nose crinkled and he turned his head to the side. I was so caught up in laughing at his reaction that I almost didn't notice that Mikey had waked up to us.

"Hey, Mike and Ike!" I chimed, he gave me a quizzical look at the nickname, but he didn't question it.

"Hey, uh... What's wrong with Gee?" He shifted his eyes from me to his brother.

"He's fine, that's just the face of defeat." I replied easily.

"I didn't lose, Mike! She tricked me!" Gerard said, over dramatically feigning a fatal injury, as if he were shot.

"Oh please, you knew what you were getting into when you took that dare!" I retorted, trying to hold back laughter.

Mikey just laughed at the two of us, "So what does the winner get?"

Gerard and I stopped our theatrics and looked at each other. "You know, we never really thought that far ahead..." I said as I turned to his brother and got off the table. Gerard followed my lead and stood up as well, stretching his arms above his head as he did so. "How 'bout you just give me a ride home? My sister's the one who dropped me off here and it doesn't look like she's coming back anytime soon."

"Yeah, no problem." He wrapped his arm around my shoulders before giving me a peck on the cheek. A look of surprise covered my face, but before I could turn to look at him, he had already slipped his arm from my shoulders and was walking towards his car. I looked to Mikey to see if he saw, but he was in the process of turning around to follow his brother. I managed to catch a glimpse of a knowing smile.

I put my hand over the spot that he kissed and soon found myself smiling as well. Without a second thought, I ran up to Gerard and grabbed his hand before starting a conversation about the band he had yet to name.
