*Anxa… *
I sprinted towards her, my catlike footing never making a sound on the cold stone floor. She was unconscious and chained to a wall with her wrists and ankles bound in metal chains. Besides her, I saw spots of blood splattered across the wall… and that caused the blood to drain from my face.
“Anxa… hey!” I called out frantically.
I checked her pulse and exhaled in relief. She was alive.
Thank God.
“Anxa?” I called out softly yet again as my frantic eyes surveyed the large room where some kind of ritual was supposed to take place…
I saw a life size stone work molded into the shapes of human hands at the far end of the room. My breathing hitched as I thought I saw something move there….
While shaking a now groaning Anxa to wake up, I tried to pinpoint the source which moved… trying to find anything… red.
Anxa’s sudden intake of breath in the form of a gasp made me turn my back towards the monument momentarily.
“Kara… what… how…?”
Talk about being confused.
But the relief that washed through me as I heard her speak aloud was enough to over ride the irritation at Anxa’s…. baffled state.
“No time.” The urgency in my voice seemed to convey the importance that she needed to catch up in this situation.
“Okay, first can you break the chains? I cannot unfortunately without using chakra OR attracting attention.”
She grumbled as she seemed to realize that these titanium chains were not something a human can crack.
Suddenly I felt a wave of chakra and my sister let out a tiniest fraction of the eight tailed wolf’s power. Within a second she was free and standing by me.
“Right. That was… easy. Anyway, we have to make a run for it. And Anxa?”
“Yeah?”
Her voice was hushed: clear sign she was scared.
“Relax. Don’t worry. I’ll get you out in one piece. Just don’t look back to check for me once we are out of this room, get it?”
She seemed hesitant but when I saw her nod her head in the affirmative, I huffed a breath and with a burst of chakra we flew out the room causing the dust to rise up from the floor, making us unable to see each other for a second.
That was when I acted on the feeble idea that suddenly popped in my head.
Because it was the only way that Anxa could get out save…
Or I just wanted to check how well Itachi’s Sharingan saw….. ;)
***************************************************************
To a normal mortal, who saw through the smoke billowing through the room, it would look like two girls with flowing dark brown hair and sparkling chocolate eyes were making a mad dash to the wide hole in the wall.
But to any ninja who is familiar with the ‘Henge no Jutsu!” technique would know that one of them was just an imposter.
And I trusted them to be busy enough not to able to recognize the real one in time considering the fact that three of the Akatsuki members were going head to head with Yamato, Father and Father’s shadow clone.
“Dad!” I screamed in Anxa’s voice using the name with which Anxa usually refers to Father as we were trapped mid way by the Jutsu crossfire between Yamato and Deidara.
I saw his blazing red scan me and he abandoned his close ranged fight with one of the puppets being moved expertly by Sasori and sprinted towards us while dodging Deidara’s clay spiders.
Yamato on the other hand kicked Deidara square in the jaw causing him to lose his footing as he stumbled backwards.
“What the devil do you think you are doing?!” Anxa’s harsh voice whispered in my ear.
But before I could answer her and Father or Yamato could reach us, Kisame appeared out of nowhere after defeating Father’s clone and took a big swipe at the both of us.
“Look out, ‘Kara’!” I yelled, making it sound like the name came out of my mouth… or rather slipped instinctively, hoping Kisame would take the bait as me and my sister dodged his giant Samehada.
I saw Kisame turn to me as a smirk made its way onto his face.
*He may be a genius in fighting, he is still an oaf.*
As I saw Father quickly disarm a shuriken thrown at Anxa seemingly out of nowhere, I knew we had to get her out fast.
“Run!” Anxa shouted at me and I complied, tearing through the rest of the way, Father and Yamato already climbing out the hole in the wall.
But the moment it would have taken me to jump out I saw my way blocked by a figure which seemed to materialize out of thin air in front of me, clotting my path.
“It has been a long time, Kara.”
The smooth silky voice that my ears picked up after such a long time caused my eyes to widen and cold sweat to break out on my face.
“Itachi…”
I am not particularly happy with this chapter. But whatever. I can't do better than this either!!
Sorry, if it disappoints you, i mean I SUCK at action scenes. :P
