Kara’s P.O.V:
“Itachi…”
I lost grip on the Transformation Jutsu and with a quiet ‘poof!’ I was standing in front of him in my original form.
My eyes were wide even though the sunlight streaming in has partially bathed me in its golden glow. I found his Sharingan piercing through me and that was all I could focus on because his face was in the shadows as he was obstructing the sunlight dancing in through the wide hole…
Through which, now that I was able to wrench my gaze away from the twinkling scarlet orbs I saw my sister’s horrified expression and my Father’s understanding one… I saw him give me a brief nod and he and my sister vanished out of sight in the blink of an eye.
Deidara seemed to notice this too and he took off after them. I made a move, trying to prevent him from chasing them when I had my way blocked again.
Itachi was quiet as he gazed at me… something was there in those murderous eyes…. Something shining there, brighter than the Sharingan itself… something I could only describe as… curiosity. It was as if he wanted to know just what I was doing here of all places.
Huh. He would not believe me even if I told him.
My heart suddenly bouncing in my chest, I realized that my target was standing right in front of me and I was gazing at him with… shock. (I would never admit that in this tense moment, the beauty in his eyes were the thing which had me stupefied—without using a Jutsu.) I was rather close to killing myself right now.
“She knows you, un!”
Deidara piped in, breaking the silence while running his eyes down the length of my body causing me to bare my teeth in disgust even though he could not see.
“Oh what the hell are we waiting for?! Let’s kill her and get the heck out of here before the leader get’s here Itachi and finds the beast gone!!” It was Kisame’s turn to growl now as he eyed me with annoyance shining on his face. Sasori stood there, quiet and on his guard with an emotionless mask enveloping his face.
I gulped and flipped back a few feet to put some distance between me and the Uchiha. It disturbed me to find out exactly how close he was standing to me and the fact that I had let him.
But the moment my feet touched the ground after the black flip, Itachi was standing in front of me again, closer than before; his face now a bit easier to look at now that he moved out of the sunlight’s path. His face was just the same as I remembered but obviously had matured, only adding more attraction to his looks, emotionless as ever, his lips pressed into a thin line.
In a heartbeat I saw his eyes flash and my brain was suddenly fighting against an invisible force which was trying to knock down my guard. His eyebrows knit together as I realized that he was now trying his best to knock me out with his genjutsu without hurting me.
And it certainly was having an effect.
My brain seemed to be getting number by the second as I desperately fought to remain conscious. All my senses started to fade as I tried vainly to restore them, knowing the evident fact that the moment my eyes closed; I would not wake up again.
But as I felt my body sway, I felt two strong arms steady me against something and heard a velvety voice miles away…
“She might prove useful to us…”
In those words lay my hope- that I would survive and not die. I expected to wake up again… and then only, I would have a chance to commence the mission assigned to me: To bring Itachi Uchiha back to Konohagakure.
