Recap-
She felt it before she heard it, the immense vibration, almost like an earthquake, followed by the loud crack of a tree breaking in half.
That was no tree, that was the ship!
She knew it was a matter of time before the ship would sink. She decided to look for anything made of wood whatsoever to help her float. Finding a round barrel, she opened it, and finding it empty, she hopped inside and slammed her eyes shut.
Oh God save me, please save me…
She knew she was in the water because she could feel the erratic bouncing of her little barrel-boat. Water rushed into her barrel, dousing her in more water and cutting off her oxygen supply. She tried to drag in some much needed air, but instead, water rushed into her lungs, choking her and causing her to go into sweet oblivion.

CHAPTER 5
Rizpah awoke to a burning sensation in her lungs. She coughed and sputtered and tried to drag in some oxygen of life into her deflated lungs.
God, sea-water is nasty stuff, she said to herself.
Rizpah was still lying on her back when she felt the ocean tickle her toes. She felt the chill of the evening breeze and saw the setting sun peeking from behind the ocean. She knew she had to find shelter soon or she would die of hypothermia or something. Pushing herself up and unto her elbow, she raised her head and turned around to see where exactly she was. And it wasn’t good.
Oh hell no!
It was a dense jungle, the king you can barely walk through. The tree trunks were thick and gnarled, creating strange faces on the tree barks. The foliage on the jungle floor was so dense she couldn’t see a glimpse of brown soil. She stood to her feet and waited for the sudden wave of nausea to pass over. She took a deep breath and grabbed hold of a tree branch to steady her still shaky knees. She looked back one last time at the calm ocean and then took a few tentative steps into the jungle. The more steps she took, the bolder she became.
I need to find me a drink of water, she said to herself. Hmmm… this isn’t so bad. I’ll just think of this as a prolonged adventure. La la la la la …. Huh?
There it was again, a rustling in the bushes, followed by a twig snapping.
Rizpah jerked to a stop and stood stock still, listening for anything at all. And just as the erratic beating of her heart had somewhat calmed, she saw it, two bright yellow orbs, shining at her in the darkness.
Rizpah didn’t dare move a muscle. Soon she heard the low growling and heavy breathing of the creature in front of her. The creature took one step into the moonlight and Rizpah almost had a heart attack. The creature was large and as tall as a young horse. The creature opened its mouth and the sight of so many sharp teeth propelled Rizpah into survival mode. Rizpah turned around and fled. The tigress- or was it a lioness- hot on her heels.
Faster, feet, faster! Even the trees seemed to know the urgency of her dilemma. She ran, ducking below branches and vines and jumping raised roots. The tigress- or lioness- oh who cares? It was out to make her human sushi! The beast lumbered after her, crashing into everything in its path. She knew she couldn’t outrun that huge bundle of pure muscle much longer, so she thought of a Plan D.
Oh yes, I meant Plan D for Desperado! I’m way past plan Backup.
At that moment, she saw a low hanging branch just ahead of her. Yes! That branch was her salvation. As she ran underneath the branch, she leaped into the air and caught the branch between her arms. She then swung her right leg over and unto the branch, clamping it between her thighs.
“Ha!” she said out loud, “In your hairy face, you beast! Thought you could make a meal out of me, did you? So whatcha gonna have for dinner now, huh?” She continued to gloat at the pacing beast.
But her joy was short-lived, for all to soon, her life flashed before her eyes when she heard her branch groan under her.
Damnation!
That was all her brain had time to process before the branch gave way under her. She tumbled and ass planted on the hard and unforgiving jungle floor. She was about to get up and take off again when her tree branch came crashing unto her ankle, crushing it.
Oh the irony of life. The same branch that saved my life minutes ago was the same branch that just doomed me to my death.
The wild feline came up to her and smirked.
Smirked!? OK, that was just so wrong on so many levels.
The beast pushed the fallen log from Rizpah’s broken ankle and sniffed at the spilt blood and decided to go ahead with dinner. It opened its mouth wide and sank its huge canines into Rizpah’s already broken ankle.
Rizpah shrieked so loud that it could have been heard across the ocean. She turned her head away, not wanting to witness the hungry beast as it gorged itself on her exposed flesh. And just as the darkness was about to claim her, another beast, with black soulless eyes and bronzed hairless skin came charging out of the trees and crashing into her tigress-slash-lioness.
And then the darkness claimed her.
