I have always lived in the same town and with each day I have always seen the same old faces and no new ones have I ever seen in my years of living. Next door to my house lives a nice old lady who has 2 cats and her husband died in the war, her name is Beth and in 5 days it will be her birthday. The family to my left there is a nice man who goes to work at the factory at 8 o'clock in the morning so he drops his kids off at their school before heading off. His wife, Sherry, is a stay at home mom who watches the two kids after school and is currently pregnant with a healthy baby. They want to be surprised with the gender. Their eldest is 14 years old and their youngest is 6. Their names are charlie and Ruby. It was overall a nice town. We weren't recognized very much and that was okay. Recently, I have heard from a close knit group of friends that a new family is moving into town, which was a big deal considering we didn't get much newcomers. So we were delighted to have them enter our kind town. But in the ending of summer, was a bad idea. Out of every town within 50 miles never had such a hot summer like we did in Maria. It was brutally hot and we all burnt like crisps. "Who are they?" I asked Mikasa, before taking a spoon full of my chocolate ice cream and eating it, letting it cool me down as we walked to the local park. "I heard they are dangerous thugs that worked in some underground gang system." Mikasa heard the rumor too, that they were thugs. But why on Earth would thugs wants to move to this peaceful little town? I shrugged off the questions and rumors that may be lies and threw away my ice cream, finished with the sweet cold treat. The air was crisp and sharp as we exhaled out. It was hit and made my lungs burn to a boil. I was itchy in my clothes that I felt were glued to my body. When we entered the park it all looked the same as it always did, boring and colorful at the same time.

The trees were filled with bright leaves and the wind whipped paste the small children but it was still warm and bright out. I had on my warm sweater that wrapped around me and skinny jeans. It was perfect time to wear a sweater be used it was actually colder out but yet... I was still sweating terribly. Mikasa stopped, tugging on the sleeve on my sweater. "Eren, there they are." And there they were. Standing by the local parlor shop where they sold me the ice cream I was eating before. One had blonde hair and weird eyebrows and one had a raven colored undercut that was fitting him and his perfectly shaped jawline that made his eyes look even more determined and scared than they were already. I shivered once his eyes grazed over to me and stuck, as did I. And I was so glad and silently thankful that in that moment he didn't hear what I said next. Because for this moment during my slowly evaporating lifetime, it stuck in this moment, but the countdown to my end still was coming. I had said to Mikasa, "He looks like the scariest person I'd ever fuck." And that's how I died. Well, died on the inside as my life felt like it was ending by the way I blushed and by the way Mikasa looked at me like I wasn't even her brother which had struck a chord with me.

"Eren! He is coming over here!" Mikasa gasped, snapping me out of my blushing face. He had just walked passed us, leaving the tall blonde guy alone at the ice cream shop and didn't make eye contact with anyone but the ground during the entire walk passed us. He looked taller from far away but closer up he was like a few inches shorter, which was fine with it isn't like you can personally choose your height. Like my one friend Historia who is 4"9 and she doesn't seem bothered by the fact she is shorter than those around her but she still embraces it. "Do you think he goes to our school?" I inquired after he walked out of the park, catching many curious stares from the lady that lives to my right, she was at the park with his grandson Luke this morning. "I don't know, ask Armin, he probably knows." Mikasa spoke monotone before walked off like we didn't have plans to go see that movie we have always wanted to watch. I shrugged, thinking she had other plans.

We don't choose to love people, we don't choose to fall in a sweet romance with someone. What we do choose is to forgive the ones that hurt you, or to fall out of love with the one person who you always held dear to you. I like to see this as a sign. People fall in love. But they still fall out of love. Love, doesn't sound like it lasts for a lifetime unless it was a rare spark that flashed in your heart. But me, being the ticking time bomb I am and someone who always likes to look on the darkness of things, feels like I shouldn't ever fall in love as it would only lead to hurt and the weary pain of having to forgive both them and myself for the eternity of everlasting things that could have gone terribly wrong. I thought of these things as I talked to Armin, asking him about the guy who I had seen at the park. The way his Raven colored hair moved softly with the soft warm breeze that made him look dazzling in the summer sky. Surely it was just in the moment my eyes only wanted to look at him. And surely it was just my imaginary that he had looked at me too. So I pushed away the truth, like always, and let the lies cascade inside of me like a warm waterfall.

"So he is new here?"

"Yes, Eren."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Eren."

"...positive?"

"EREN YES I AM!" Armin yelled, laughing slightly as he helped the librarian with sorting out books from fiction to nonfiction. Although I wasn't much of a fan of those books but more of the romance ones that sparked in my mind. Maybe it was the fact that they related to me more than nonfiction ones which was weird in my opinion. "Is that all you wanted to know--" he paused, stopping his task of pacing nonfiction books and fiction books in separate piles. "Wait... Do you like him?" He asked, smiling wide as if he knew more than even I did. I waved my hand, assuring him. "No of course not. I just wanted to know, I swear." And I meant it, I didn't want to get a petty crush on someone so easily. I wasn't going to start now with someone whom I didn't even know. He could be like 40 or something, yet he was a new student and Armin said he was 18 years old and a senior to this school. I leaned my arms on the counter, curious oh so curious on why he came into our small little town of Maria.

Curious indeed.
