Jayla slammed the book shut before she could read on. Everyday in school they had told them that the reason why Thólos was surrounded in a dome was to protect them. Now this old, dusty, one-of-a-kind book is telling her that it isn't? She clutched her head in confusion, all of this thinking and reading was giving her a headache.
Dazed, Jayla decided to call her best friend, Mia. She grabbed the book to take with her to her bedroom. With the book in her hand and I.D. card in her back pocket, Jayla quickly walked in and flopped down on her bed. She looked around the room and saw the standard metallic blue wallpaper, metallic blue bed frame, and metallic blue sheets along with everything else in her room that was metallic blue- which was everything. Sadly, the rule in Thólos was that everything had to be metallic blue, and you had to have the standard furniture. Even all their clothes were the same color and style. If you didn't listen to the strange rule, then there were serious consequences.
Ignoring the boringness of her room and the confusion of everything that had happened in the past hour, Jayla got out her I.D. card and called Mia. Immediately Mia answered. A holographic image popped up of a metallic blue version of her lanky, super-confident, best friend.
"Hey Jayla," said Mia
"Hey Mia, look I need to talk to you, but I can't explain it right now. I'll meet you at the park tomorrow morning," said Jayla.
"But..." said Mia speechless.
"Sorry got to go. Lots of chores to get done," interrupted Jayla as she cut the connection.
