Outside there they saw all the kids that they went to school with, were friends with, and many that they had never seen before lined up on the streets.
"Jayla, Mia, can you hear me," called out a voice that seemed to be coming from inside their heads."Who is that?" wondered the girls, startled.
"It's me, Steve. I am controlling all the children of the city with my computer. Whatever I say you will end up doing. There is no other choice. However, all of you will need a weapon. There should be a screen popping up on your I.D. cards. If you press it, then it should turn into some sort of deadly weapon. Use it to fight the guards."
Jayla slowly pulled out her I.D. card and then saw exactly what Steve described. She followed his directions and then her I.D. card was a sharp, guard-spearing, weapon! All the children of Thólos were now a massive, deadly, army!
The child army marched to the center of the city. There were guards lining the perimeters."Steve," called out Jayla, "How do we get in?" Steve answered Jayla and split the child army into groups.
"Group 1, take down the guards in the perimeters. Group 2, get the guards in the hallway. Group 3, you distract the guards in the prison. Finally, Group 3, you will unlock all the prison cells."While Steve was speaking, the groups began their instructions. Jayla and Mia were in Group 3. With Group 2 in front of them, taking out guards with their weapons, and Group 4 behind, protecting the rear, the third group ran through the halls. After a bunch of twists and turns with some directions from Steve, they finally made it to a heavily guarded door, marked PRISON.
