Chapter 4

I have to tell him.

He walked out on us.

They were related to him as well.

He hated them.

He has a right to know.

He hates me more than I hate him.

I have to tell him.

I apparated to the small flat in London that I knew my brother was living in. I knock once, twice, three times, before he answers. I can tell he is about to slam the door so I step one foot into the door frame. He jambs it on my foot. I wince. He opens the door again.

"What do you want." he growls.
"Nice to see you again, Sirius" I try to keep my tone light but it's hard.
"What do you want." Sirius repeats.
"Their dead." my voice is colder than I had meant it to be.
"Who're dead? A million people have died 'cause of this war" he hissed
"Mother and father. Death eaters killed them."
"Yeah. Right." he snorted "Voldemort sympathisers, no- pure blood, Voldemort sympathisers killed by death eaters."
"I'm serious." I deadpan
"No you're not, he's your brother."
I pull out my wand. "I'm still a death eater, you realise."
"Put that thing away." he snarls "This is a muggle neighborhood."
"Why don't you let me inside?" I suggest.
"Over my dead body." he spits
I twirl my wand "Death eater." I sing.
"Fine." he gives in. "Get in here."

He shoves me through the door toward the small sitting room.
"Sirius!" someone called through the flat "Who was at the door? You were talking to them for an awfully long ti-" the man stops talking when his eyes land on me.
"James Potter." I smirk
"What the hell is she doing here?" he demands of Sirius
"Well Jamesie,"I say teasingly "That's no way to treat a guest." I plop down on one of the sofas. I have to shake myself mentally for how much that sounds like Bella.

Sirius and Potter move to the other room where I hear them muttering in a fight. I can tell it's about me.
"Sirius!" I yell. "I have more to tell you." my voice isn't as teasing or playful this time. It's more somber and ominous.
"What?" he barks. He moves away from Potter and back to me.
"There's one more death in our family." I speak softly.
"Please tell me it's Bellatrix." he begs me. I shoot him a disgusted look.
"No. It's not Bellatrix. It's Regulus." I say slowly.
Sirius falls to the chair. "How?" he demanded "He was just a kid."
"I don't know." I admit. "Kreacher was ordered by Reg not to tell me."
"The deranged house elf won't tell why your baby brother died?" he raises an eyebrow.
"He's dead Sirius." I cry. "Don't you care?"
"Of course I care!" he yells back.
"Well you have a funny way of showing it." I growl.
"All of your family is dead!" he roars "Why don't you care more?"
"Nice to know you don't include yourself on the list." I hiss
"I was burnt off that tapestry long ago. I'm not apart of your family anymore."

I notice James standing awkwardly in the doorway.
"I s'pose you're his family now, eh?" I stood up to screech at Potter
"Hey, I was better family to him than you ever were." he defends himself.
"Blood is what matters now Potter." I spat
"To you." he growls
"Blood is all that matters in this war."
"Blood is what doesn't matter." the two of them insist.

I break down crying. I fall onto the sofa, dissolved in tears.

"You finally broke her" I hear Potter mutter to Sirius.

"Oh shut up!" I sob. "I was raised to think this way. This is all I know! My parent cracked down on me to push these thoughts into my brain from the time I was one. They thought I would rub off on Sirius but he was smart enough to resist all the thoughts. They realised they failed with him so they pressured Regulus into this life. You don't think I realise this is wrong? I have no way out. I'm trapped" I lifted up my shirt a bit "This scar isn't from any battle. It's from him. HE did this to me"
"Dumbledore can help you" Sirius said calmly.
"No. He can't. I'm too deep in."
"You can at least try." Potter pleaded. "It's not like you can stay."
"Oh I know that." I snapped "I'm not an idiot. I know He killed them."
"What are you going to do?" the ask at the same time.

"Whatever happened to your owl?" I deterred the subject. "The black one with the pretty eyes."
"How d'you know about Noir?" he eyes me carefully. "I got her after I left Grimmauld"
"How did you lose her again?" I was suddenly very interested with looking at my nails
"She was shot down and fell to her death." he said warily. "What did you do?"
"I didn't do anything" I sail in a falsely cheery voice. "Unless you count delivering countless letters for my brother at all hours of the night." I look directly into his eyes. His gray ones into my purple ones.
"So you were her?" he said slowly
"I thought that's what I said." I say innocently
"You're an animagus then?" James clarifies
"Just like my dear younger brother."
"Prove it." Sirius hisses

I focus on my owl form and shift to it to become a black owl with violet eyes. I shift back.

"Why are you telling me this?" Sirius asked skeptically.
"Maybe I feel bad for being a crappy sister and for spying on you for months on end." I half admit.
"Are you any closer to deciding though?" Potter asks slowly.
"I think I have decided. It is most likely I will be dead though." I say slowly
"If you somehow survive, come by." Sirius and I both stand.

I awkwardly wrap my arms around him. He seemed caught off guard but after a moment but wrapps his arms around me anyway.

"I'm sorry Sirius." I whisper before disappearing into the night in a puff of smoke.

*******

"LORD VOLDEMORT!" I below through the seemingly empty halls of Malfoy Manor. "YOU FUCKING KILLED HIM!" I yell "HE'S DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU." He appears in front of me in a cloud of smoke.

"Their all dead because of you." I hiss.
"Regulus failed me so I punished him." he said calmly.
"So you offed him too?" I cried. "you killed everyone I love."
"What? No sweetheart? I was sure that Rabastan Lestrange is sweet on you."
"You're a psychopath." I hiss.
"Your brother is not the only Black to fail me tonight it seems." the Dark Lord sighed "Very well." he ordered Bella and Rodolphus to tie me up. Bella hissing my ear about me being a disappointment to the Black family name. I ignored her. The Dark Lord was going to kill me.

Goodbye Sirius. Have a good life without your failure of a sister. You've been doing well up to now.

"Obliviate." he hissed.

Everything went black.
