Dear Diary,
My birthday dinner was really great yesterday. Pamir made me a bracelet which I think was really sweet and Amjal drew me a picture with his treasured pastels he was given from our grandparents before they were killed in the last bombings.
Apparently there have been some kidnappings in our neighbourhood. I'm really worried about it but Baba and Mama don't want me to frighten Amjal because, as they keep saying, he is only six. Pamir is trying to reassure me that we will be okay but I have a really horrible feeling about the next few days and I don't like it...
It's getting dark now and I don't want to waste my candle so goodnight.
