Caidence's POV:

I get home after walking for some time, stopping to chat to a few friends. I notice a note on the fridge as I place my bag down, walking to it and removing the magnet so I can read it easier.

"Hey hun, Carter has to go to hospital, he has a tummy bug, we probably won't be back until tomorrow, I left some money on the side for your dinner - Love, Mum"

I frown, chewing my bottom lip slightly. Carter was never the type to say he needed to go to the hospital, this must be pretty bad.

I send her a quick text, telling her I got home alright and asking her if Carter was alright. I leave the money on the side, deciding to just make something. My phone dings from my back pocket as I take a pot out of the drawer. I take it out, reading over the message with a small grin.

"Hey, it's Brooklyn. Sorry about the cheesy way I gave you my number, I was too awkward to just come out and ask for it :p"

I reply after thinking it through carefully, making sure I don't screw it up.

"It's totally fine, pretty smooth way to do it if you ask me"

I place my phone on the counter, turning on the stove and filling a pot with water and leaving it to boil before I place a handful of pasta in it. I wait for the pasta to be fully soft before turning off the heat and draining the pasta and placing it on a plate.

"It was really nice meeting you, Romeo hasn't shut up about you. He was right, you really are beautiful"

I feel a blush char my cheeks as I read the message over two, three times before his words actually register.

"Well...thank you. Is there any particular reason you wanted my number? :)" I send quickly, throwing some precooked chicken into my pasta.

"Because I want to get to know you... is that creepy of me?"

"Why would it be creepy?" I walk to the couch, tucking one leg underneath the other as I sit down, placing my plate in my lap.

"Because I only met you today, and I put my number in your phone..." I take a small forkful of pasta, swirling it before I place it in my mouth, chewing slowly.

"It's completely fine, I don't really talk to many people so it's nice to have someone new to speak to :)"

"OK phew. What do you want to talk about?"

"Why don't we get to know each other?"

"Sounds like a plan :D"

I spend that night speaking to Brooklyn, laughing and blushing over embarrassing memories even though he wasn't there. I found out he would be moving to my school, Warwick High, in a few weeks, when we started back up again. I found out his favourite colour, song, football team, food, band.

I go to bed at 9:00, although I'm sure we both know that I stayed up on my phone. I turn to my side at about 1:00 and as it turns out Carter is fine.

Well, tomorrow is a new day...
