Caidence's POV:Do you know that feeling when you don't want to get out of bed? Because it's too cold, too comfy for you to leave? Yeah, that was me right now. The duvet was curled comfortably around my ankles, my head resting at an awkward yet bearable angle, my phone practically glued to my hand as I scroll through my Instagram feed. My hair briefly falls over my face and I brush it away, only to see that the pink has faded noticeably. I make a mental note to grab some more hair dye later. It was Sunday, meaning I had no work.
I sigh as I pull myself out of bed, walking to my closet already as I open my Spotify, pressing shuffle on my 'Favorites' playlist. I bounce around a little, it was only 9:30 in the morning so Carter would have swimming practice until around 11. I take my time picking an outfit, used to be home alone as my elder brother was at work. I finally settle for a khaki green button up, black jeans and some Converse that I've owned for years, tucking the necklace my father got me beneath my shirt. I brush my teeth before getting dressed slowly, throwing my pajamas into the washbasket as I send a quick text to Carly, asking her if she wanted to hang out. I run a brush through my hair as I wait for a response, my head bobbing instinctively to the beat of Light 'Em Up.
She replies within five minutes to tell me that she would meet me at the mall, which I'm thankful for. She sends another text straight after telling me that she'll meet me in the food court. I roll my eyes playfully, grinning to myself.
"That girl and her food" I mumble to myself, walking downstairs, grabbing my purse off the counter as i tuck my phone into my pocket, turning my music off. I place my earphones in my purse after I write a note, telling my Mum and possibly my elder brother where I'm going and saying that I'll be back before it's dark. I decide to catch the bus, waiting 20 minutes for the right one before getting on, listening it the dull hum of the engine as we pull out of the stop, beginning the short trip to the mall.
I listen to the hum of the engine soften down into practically nothing, gathering my things and thanking the driver as I get off, heading towards the food court already. Carly is already there, waiting for me with a grin on er face as she runs to me
"No rips in your jeans? Who are you and what have you done with Caidence?" She jokes, looping her arm through mine as she usually does. I pinch her side lightly, chuckling as she hands me a coffee, my gods this girl knows me.
"What about you missy? Where are the heels?" I poke my tongue out at her, sitting on a couch as I take a sip of my coffee.
"No way would I wear those, not if we're going to be here for most of the day!" she beams as I nearly spit out my coffee
"Most of the day?" I question, turning to face her slightly more.
"Well yeah, I'm assuming you want more sneakers?" she smirks as she lifts her frappe to her lips.
"Hey, what's wrong with my converse?" I pout playfully, giggling as I note the cream mustache on her upper lip.
She wipes it off with a playful glare
"Hun, those things are practically falling off your feet" she states, smiling as I finish my coffee. I nod in agreement, standing to throw my cup in the bin.
"Caidence, have you decided whether or not you're going to go the the welcoming dance at school? "
I groan internally, I knew she would ask me this. Every year, when we come back from break, the school throws a big dance as a way to 'bring everybody together'. It was a load of total crap to me, everybody ignored the others anyway.
"I said I wasn't going to but I'm assuming that you're going to beg and plead until I say yes, probably bring Samantha into it too?" Samantha is a girl I became close to after she told off a boy in our kindergarten for pulling my hair. I practically grew up with her, introducing her to Carly at the appropriate time. The three of us easily became the best of friends.
Carly grins, nodding enthusiastically
"Exactly. So, dress shopping?"
I sigh as I link my arm with hers once again, letting her drag me towards one of the many dress shops. She knew the layout of this mall like the back of her hand.
)Time skip, 1 and a half hours(
It's been around and hour and a half and Carly has already found her dress, a pretty peach dress with pleats in the skirt, which ended just above her knees. It complimented her raven hair and brought out the blue in her eyes. We still haven't found anything for me, Samantha has texted to say that she had already got a dress at home, and that it was a surprise. Sam and Carly are really the only people I hang out with.
As I change into yet another dress, I find my thoughts drift to Brooklyn. Would he be at the dance?
I shake the thought away, determined not to become infatuated. Boys tend to be the same, use you and then lose you. I don't want my heart broken again.
I glance up into the mirror, and I realize with an extremely satisfied grin that this is it. This is the dress. I check the price tag once more, my grin growing impossibly wider as I note the price. It was cheap, only 15 pounds
, which was amazing, because I sure as hell am not going to pay so much for something I'll wear once. I mentally thank Carly for bringing me into a cheaper store. The dress itself was stunning. It was black, with sheer short sleeves and a collar. It was loose around my figure, yet tight enough to give me the feeling of it being secure. I decide with a sheepish grin that I probably will wear it again.
I exit the changing room shyly, only to be met by the hushed squeals of Carly.
"Oh my Gerard Way, you look gorgeous" I grin, noting the fact that she used my catchphrase
"Thank you, it's definitely the one. Would you be able to go buy it for me while I change back please?" She only nods in response, taking the dress and my purse from me when I pass them over.
We walk out of the store with our arms linked, like always. I catch a glimpse of the sneaker store 'Sneaky Feet' and look at Carly, grinning. She sighs dramatically before nodding and allowing me to drag her into the store.
