Sophie and Derek sat on her bed between the rumpled deep purple sheets. Derek's back was against her headboard, his arms wrapped around her waist above the top sheet. He held her as close to him as possible. She sat between his legs, her back pressed to his chest, her arms holding the sheet against her naked chest. She was glad she didn't have work today. A part of her wanted to stay where she was for as long as she could.
"Tell me something about your life before coming back here," Derek told her before he placed a gentle kiss to her bare shoulder.
"I don't like talking about it," she said honestly. Her past, especially the last few months in New York were something she wanted to avoid as much as she could.
"You don't have to, not until you're ready," he reassured her. He wanted to get to know her better. The more he thought about her, the more he realized he didn't know much about her at all.
"I didn't say I wouldn't tell you something, it's just hard for me to talk about," She said with a sad tone in her voice. "What I'm going to tell you is going to sound a little crazy and I'll completely understand if you don't want anything to do with me afterwards."
"I don't care how crazy it sounds, I'm not leaving you alone," he kissed her shoulder again before he nuzzled his head in the crook between her shoulder and neck.
Sophie took a deep breath in and out before she started telling him about Ella and what happened. "Just over three months ago Ella, my younger sister, was bitten by my old pack's alpha," she pauses, tears already starting to form. She didn't have time to mourn for her Ella, partly because Ella was 'haunting' her. "I told her not to get the bite. I didn't want her to go through what I went through. I didn't want her to go through the pain, the anger and the blood lust every full moon. I didn't want her living in constant danger and not being able to control herself. She was too sweet and innocent to be turned into a werewolf..." She stopped again and wiped away the tears that were starting to fall.
"Did she want the bite?" Derek asked her. Everyone that found out what he was wanted the bite. They wanted the power and strength that came from being a werewolf, they didn't care about the consequences. He was a little surprised when he shook her head no.
"She didn't want it," She said. She moved her hands down and linked her fingers with his. "That's what she told me anyway. I think it was more to get me off her back about it then not actually wanting it."
"She lied to you about wanting it?" He asked and she nodded.
"Ella had befriended the Alpha's son who was the same age as her. The day she died I went out to run a couple errands while she went to hang out with him. When I got home she was there bleeding black everywhere. I noticed the bite mark on her side through the blood stain surrounding it," she let out a sob that she had been trying to hold back. "She had a sharp knife in her hand. She didn't want to wait for the bite to take her," she paused again taking a deep shuttering breath.
"You don't have to tell me the rest if you don't want to," he turned her head so she could look at him. He wiped away her tears this time.
"I want to, I've never talked to anyone about it before." She took another deep breath in and out. Derek held her comforting her the best he could as she continued to tell him what happened. "She held the knife out to me and when I hesitated she forced it into my hand. She told me she couldn't do it herself. So while crying, apologizing and telling her that I love her I did as she asked. I killed her."
"That's why your werewolf eyes are blue," he said placing a gentle kiss to her forehead. She nodded again. Derek sounded like he was speaking from experience. She knew his werewolf eyes were blue too. She didn't question him about it. She knew he'd tell her when he was ready too.
"She says it's not my fault she died, that I didn't kill her. She was already dying and I saved her from the suffering," she said looking down at their fingers still entwined.
"She says?" Derek questioned slightly confused.
"This is the crazy part," she sighed sadly. She didn't want to lose Derek. Their connection was strong from the moment they met. It became stronger after their night together. She couldn't quite explain it but it was like he was a part of the reason why she came back to Beacon Hills. She didn't want to lose him, the one person who was keeping her steady and from losing her mind completely.
It then hit her like a ton of bricks cascading down on top of her. Ella was no longer her anchor. It was now Derek.
"I still see and talk to her," She continued when Derek said nothing. She didn't want to tell him what Ella's told her so far. She decided not to tell him the Alpha also wanted her as well as him and Scott.
"That doesn't make you crazy," he said softly against her ear, his breath and slight stubble along his jaw tickling her skin. "In our world nothing seems crazy."
She tilted her head and brushed her lips gently over his. He untwined their fingers and cupped her face, deepening the kiss. This kiss was not like their kisses from the night before. It was softer, more meaningful but the passion was still there. As cliché as it sounded, and she hated clichés, there were fireworks.
Derek moved them so she was laying on her back with him hovering over her. He trailed light feather kisses along both sides of her neck before going back to her lips, deepening the kiss again as he got comfortable between her legs.
As their bodies became one once more, it wasn't just hot hungry lust filled sex. They took their time exploring each other's bodies, finding out what each other likes and doesn't like.

Sophie woke up a few hours later. She slowly got out of bed being careful not to wake up Derek. She found her underwear and Derek's shirt and slipped into them before leaving Derek to sleep. She went into the kitchen and grabbed herself one of her herbal tea bags and a mug. She turned the kettle on and waited for the water to boil.
When the kettle started whistling she poured the hot water into the mug and stirred it a little before cupping the mug with both hands and made her way to the window sill seat and sat down. She looked out the window and watched people walk down the street.
She jumped a little when she felt hands on her shoulders. She turned her head to see a shirtless Derek. She was so caught up in her day dream that she hadn't heard him come out of her bedroom.
"Do you want a drink of anything?" She asked standing up.
He placed a quick peck on her lips and shook his head. "I've got to go. I've got to go sort out a few things, make sure my stuff hasn't been taken from the house."
"I guess you want your shirt back?"
"You keep it. It looks better on you." He told her as he pulled his leather jacket over his toned and chiselled upper body and zipped it up. He placed his hands on her hips and pulled her against him. "I'll see you later."
"Okay." She said standing up on her tip toes and planted a kiss to his lips. She pulled away and followed him to the door, giving him another kiss before he left.
After closing the door, she locked it and went into her bathroom to have a quick shower and get dressed into some cleaner clothes. She placed the dirty clothes in her laundry bag. Tomorrow was her laundry day but she decided to do it a day earlier since she had the day off today.
Picking up her laundry bag she walked out to her car and tossed the bag into the back seat of her car, got in the driver's seat and started the drive to the laundromat.
