Dear Diary,

Jane brought very...surprising news... Well not very surprising, as I knew this would happen sooner or later.

When she and Mr. Bingley arrived at Longbourn, I was in the drawing room, writing a few things down in a copying diary for a collection of proverbs I had found in Papa's dusty library...

Hill informed me of their arrival, and I smiled, thanking him before I slammed my book shut, then coughing as dust flew in all directions. I stood and practically danced out the door! My favorite sister was visiting! I wondered why they hadn't come sooner, for I had missed Jane greatly! I ran through the library doors practically knocking Mr. Bingley over, for he was about to call me from my study. He gave his warm smile that he always wore, yet something seemed to light up his face, almost as if joy radiates from his eyes. As soon as I turned the corner to greet my sister, I saw the reason for his jubilee.

Jane sat on our settee, her own beautiful face smiling and her stomach bulging... My sister was pregnant...

I cocked my head in utter shock. Why hadn't she informed me of this in her letters? Mr. Bingley came to her side and helped her up as she came to embrace me. My body turned stiff and rigid. As she pulled away, her smile melted and she asked me what was wrong. I shook my head and told her nothing, then plastered a goofy smile on my face. This seemed to please her and I lead her back to the settee to sit down, not wanting her to over excite herself.

As I smoothed down my velvet green dress I asked her how far along she was. She was a little over six months in, meaning the last time she came to visit she knew of this surprise, yet concealed it from the rest of us.

We chatted for a few more hours until Mama called us for dinner, consisting of all of Jane's favorites. The night was lovely, a great time to see my sister. Yet I know things would never be the same between us, sadly. I do not know... Maybe fate will smile on me and someday I may be as happy as my sister...

I guess that is the end for now, until next time
