Kiss!? We... Well I guess I could... Did I just consider kissing him?
Sousuke didn't meet my eyes and scurried towards the person who'd made the request... more like an order by the tone in which she said it.
My fists clenched and I let a low sigh escape from my lungs.
Following Sousuke into the kitchen I saw Karely with head phones plugged into her cellphone as she monitored the pot over the stove.
"What are you doing?" Sousuke peeked into the pot only to receive a swat of the spoon in Karely's hand.
"Don't peek! Wait!" We both froze.
"No! Come on! Just kiss! Kiss!" She yelled to the screen. "I hate these series. Ugh, Sou pass me the celery." Her thin hand waved in my direction. I saw in the table some chopped vegetables.
A specific pile looked like celery. I grabbed the plate the pile was on and passed it to her.
The kitchen was a white and red theme. The walls were a deep red and everything else was white. There were even matching white and red pots, pans and decorations.
I had never really seen in someone's house a white stove and oven. I thought those things were only in displays or cliche films.
A warm scent began to fill the room quickly. "Jonathan, Sousuke I'm busy so go and do something. Shoo!" She pushed us out and returned to her workplace. "Sheesh. Guys.""Erm.. guess we should sit over there?" He shrugged towards the living room. I gestured with my hand, "After you." He raised his left brow, "Show off."
He sat on the loveseat and I sat across from him in the sofa big enough for six people. It was soft and very cool against my fingers. I fixed one of the cushions under my arm and placed my phone over the table. Good thing I left my jacket in the car.
"So, you prefer to be called Jonathan?" Sousuke presses intrigued.
"No." I said plainly.
"So why does Karely call you Jonathan?" He supported his elbows over his knees arching forward.
"I just don't give my name so easily." A playful smile twitched the ends of his lips.
"But you gave your name to me quite easily." I frowned slightly, "I did?" I thought back for a second, "Guess I did. Hmm.. you must be a special case. I never give the name I prefer to just anyone.. Though, sooner or later they call me Josh even if I never gave them permission to." I drifted my blabbering into silence.
I hadn't realized my gaze had shifted to see the odd clock in the far corner behind Sousuke.I gazed back at him and saw him red. His eyes widened seeing my reaction and immediately turned to the chimney and fixed his chopped hair to hide the cheek facing me.
I began to stare at his failed attempt to hide his blushing cheek. What kind of expression had I put for him to look away? Beginning to analyze how my face felt the urge to touch and feel how warm his cheek was made my right hand twitch.
I distracted my hand brushing my hair back turning towards the kitchen. A strange atmosphere began to build around the room. It was... strange.
I couldn't quite tell what kind of atmosphere was building up.
But it was becoming denser.Like if I didn't touch him my hand would have a mind of it's own and caress him without my consent.
It was a feeling I wasn't familiarized with. Avoiding all contact, and from one day to another I want to engage contact?
It didn't add up. But whatever it was, he felt it too.
He fiddled with his thumbs pressing his pale hands one against another, a bit too hard than necessary.
I pulled my arms over my chest, crossing them and restraining my too eager hands in between my arms and chest. A bit tighter and I might merge my hands with my chest. If I could merge them, it would be so much easier.
The wooden pendulum clock ticked. Time was passing too slow. Or maybe the clock was out of tune.
Silence burned.
