I immediately recognized a few of the children by the pictures I had been sent. There was one little girl, she had long brown hair, and was wearing a tiara on her head. She had the same shoes on that she had in her picture, and walked very slowly. I remembered what Hugh had told me about her. She could float. She noticed me staring at her and motioned for us to come closer.
"Hello Olive." Emma said as we neared. Olive smiled and nodded.
"And who are they?" She asked in a cute high pitched voice.
"These, little magpie, are Nettalyn Apiston," Bronwyn nodded to me, "Enoch O'Connor, and Abe Portman." She said, nodding to each of us in turn. Just then, I heard a voice I had longed to hear since I came to Miss Grouse's.
"Netta!" Hugh cried as he ran across the lawn. "Hugh!" I yelled in a similar fashion.
"I haven't seen you in such a long time." He whispered into my ear as he hugged me. "I would have visited if I could, but the Bird wouldn't let me out of her sight!"
"Fee! I missed you too!" He said as he ran to her. Bronwyn elbowed Emma in the shoulder, laughing.
"Told you so!" She giggled, inclining her head towards the the two of them.
Then, noticing the commotion, more people started to walk over as well. Three more little girls came up to me. One nudged the other, pointing to me.
"Hello, I'm Marcy, this crazy child here, is Charlotte, and that's Claire over there." She said exasperated. I chuckled. I wish I had friends like that.
"What can you do?" Asked Enoch next to me.
"Claire's got a backmouth." Said Charlotte. And before I could ask what exactly a backmouth was, Claire lifted up her curls. Beneath them, I could see, were a perfect set of teeth. I gasped in astonishment.
"Charlotte is very persuasive, she can get people to do what she wants just by looking at them, but only if she knows the person." Claire added.
"Marcie can make anything she wants. She could build an exact replica of the Buckingham Palace if you gave her enough time and materials." Hugh said, mussing up Marcie's hair.
"Then Millard is invisible, but I think you know that. Horace," She pointed in front of her, to where a boy wearing a suit stood looking at us, " has prophetic dreams, they come in the form of nightmares, usually. Emma can create flames, and Bronwyn has super strength."
"Wow!" Enoch said sarcastically. "Did you name them all?" He asked.
Emma simmered.
"You won't last long here with an attitude like that." She noted darkly.
"Oh." Abe said, slightly confused.
"Anyway," Bronwyn said, trying to turn the conversation around."What can you do?"
At this everyone brightened.
"Yes! Yes! Do tell us!" Marcie, Claire, Olive, and Charlotte begged.
"Well, I have supersonic hearing, at least, I think that's what it's called." I offered. Abe didn't understand what we were trying to say. Enoch openly refused.
"If I'd want to tell you I would have told you already." He stated.
Just then we heard the dinner bell and Miss Peregrine calling us. That means she's back.
We neared the picturesque house when I realized something. I had no idea where the dining room was, let alone where my room was, or where the bathroom was, or even the living room. From the look on their faces it was obvious to the others as well. Emma decided to take charge.
"Follow me." She ordered. And we all trooped into the house. Past a staircase, then on the right a wide doorway leading to a parlor. Past that we came to a large room with a long table and chairs. We picked our seats and sat down.
My longest chapter I've ever written. Enjoy it. By the way, today is Emma's birthday. November 13th. Have a nice rest of your day.*Bmason21 🐝--------
