[Ben Drowned Fanfic/Romance]

Chapter 1 : Undying...?

Time Posted: June 10, 20XX -- 8:47 pm

Perhaps I should admit that I'm pretty scared of the thought of dying. My heart will stop beating, my lungs will stop functioning. I got drowned before, and being unable to breathe doesn't feel that good.

I wonder if going to heaven or hell is same as astral travelling. Or if I should believe that they actually exist.

At least I know people will remember me for my dancing--and by the name Pauline Victoria Deverell. Ballet is one of my prettiest pleasures in life, but it was taken away from me.

And god, that was so three years ago~! Three years since I played the last role of the swan princess and wore my controversial red ballet shoes because the white ones felt severely uncomfortable.

Three years since I broke my right ankle, and I was rushed to the orthopedics. Three years since they discovered that a tumor was the cause of the abnormal fragility of my bones. They doomed me into crutches, and told me that I will never be able to dance--or walk again without wooden assistance.

Three years...that the doctors tried determining my condition. And finally, after the long wait, they brought fort the dreaded news. I was diagnosed with some form of cancer--the type that was too late for them to cure.

It was a good thing that they  had given me a choice to have chemotherapy sessions or not. I decided to refuse those sessions because on the movies that I'm watching, they go through a lot of pain and drama and tears. Maybe you guys can say that I'm pretty hopeless. I just wanted to spend my last days in peace and in the comfort of my cozy little room than to experience a lot of physical agony in the hospital.

Even though I know that my body is withering on its own.

I never thought that refusing it can affect with my relationship with my mother, who thinks that I had abandoned them already. Fortunately, my twin brother and my dad had accepted and respected my decision whole heartedly.

But the important thing is now, I'm here, destined to be in this room alone forever. Maybe not entirely, because my brother usually buys me a ton of video games to help me pass the time and to relieve the boredom. Blogging helps too.

I was a stranger to a game console at first, but in no time I realized that I don't have any other  options aside from dying in boredom.

The joystick, the consoles and the cables became my best friends.

------*----

“The waves were the last witness as the life left his eyes,

With the comfort of demise from Life’s weary lies

As he finally released that last precious breath

There’s no longer escape from the crutches of death.”

Victoria looked up and held her breath, wriggling her toes under the soft cozy sheets. She met a dark, lingering gaze of a blue-eyed young man, who scrutinized her appearance, before running his hand on his wind-swept black hair. “So…how is it?” she breathed, nervously tapping her fingers on the spacebar.

“It’s okay,” the male answered, furrowing his eyebrows slightly. Anybody can hardly tell the difference between these two youthful faces. “But a little cliché at the end.”

The female closed her eyes and sighed. “I know. Why do you insist on me writing a poem, anyway? I’m a dancer. Not a poet of some kind.”

“Because you’re corny at it.”

“Paul~!” Victoria wailed lightly, glaring at her twin brother. Her body might be bed ridden and frail, but her eyes remained vivid and determined. “Whatever. I swear before I die, I’ll improve.”

Paul Victor Deverell stared at the fervent expression, and extended a hand, tucking a wisp of hair on the girl’s ear. “You’re not going to die, Vicky. Not while I am around.”

Silence. The young female caught the drift of the statement. Since the two of them in childhood, Paul had always been the writer, the planner, the paper artist from his sketches to his paintings, while Victoria was the moving side—the dancer, the doer, and the stage player. At this point now, she was hoping that somehow she still have the abilities of her brother---after all they are twins.

Until she decided to break the silence. “Look who’s talking, nerd,” she piped up, grinning.

“Hah, silly materialistic sissy.”

“Have you got anything for me?” Victoria squeaked, flitting her eyes.

Paul narrowed his eyes in a playful smirk, and deposited a couple of cartridges on her blanketed lap. For a while, Victoria gaped at her brother, then she broke into a smile. “I never thought you’ll go on with ‘the ancients’”

“Hey~!” Paul objected, before breaking into a grin that matches his sister’s. “The garage sale owner said that they still work. I guess I’ll be setting up your Nintendo 64 later.”

“Hmm…what are this—“ Vicky suddenly stopped, and her eyes sparkled with sudden delight. “Ocarina of Time! Oh my god, Paul. You’re so amazing!”

“Let’s just hope that it will work finely, alright?” Paul asked, nodding.

Victoria slowly scooped the other cartridge on her hands. It was a dark gray cartridge, its casing was slightly worn out because of age, but over all, it still seemed pretty neat, according to her own preferences. She had been familiar to The Legend Of Zelda series, and eventually wished to have the chance to play them all. The bold marker letters were still visible on the surface, and she stared at it—reading it again and again, until she broke into a huge grin that lit up her face. It seemed like déjà vu. And although it gave her the creeps, holding this cartridge felt a good thing. “Geez, Paul. I need you to set up Nintendo 64 now. I want to play Majora’s Mask first.”

It took me a long time. My deepest apologies, but I decided that I must come up with a decent plot for this before i started writing (and sorry if this is kinda blunt too) . I'm becoming a poor excuse for a fanfic writer, lol. But now, somehow I came up with a decent storyline.

Anyway, share me your thoughts. Or suggestions. Or your love?

I love you all. your comments and votes are dearly appreciated. :3
