The Long Journey Ahead

My Father told me that there are valleys to the east with beautiful waterfalls where it would be high enough to be safe from floods. I was glad to hear that, but could never imagine such a place. My Mother told me that her friend, who is a Quetzalcoatlus had seen it before. That gave me hope. I could not wait to see what Dinos would live there. Would they be herbivores? Or maybe carnivores like me? I guess I'll have to wait and find out when I get there. I wonder what the twins are thinking I might look like. Will they like it there?

I got my answer soon after the thought slipped into my head. All they would ask is... Is it nice there? Are there friendly Dinos there? Will we find a good new home there? Will we have good prey to hunt? What will that taste like? And I can go on for ages. They are still doing it as I speak. Or think, in this matter. But I could tell that they were as excited as I was. Maybe a little more? Or just curious as to what will be so different from out last home. Then I realized, I was wondering the same thing.

Soon we had stopped for a rest, mainly because the twins were tired. And by her facial expression, Mother was tired as well. She did have to listen to the twins bombardment of questions, though. Father tried to get a mental picture of where we were on the map in his head. E started rambling to himself about direction and turns and shortcuts and secrets. All I cared about is that we were almost there and could almost sleep for the night. This time I would use the soft moss Mother was telling me about for my bedding. I'll also use soft mushrooms as padding. All of these improvements, will be added to the list of differences between our two homes.

As we found a good spot in the shade, my Mother and twins fell right asleep. Father told me to watch them while he hunted. I listened, keeping a close eye on the horizon. It had been about a half-hour before Father came back with our food. Mother had awoken, but let the twins sleep more. We all ate in silence, but left some for the twins. They soon awoke to the smell of the meat from the baby Stegosaurus. They are their food so fast, I don't even think they chewed. But, there was a strange noise. Almost a ba-dung ba-dung ba-dung!!! It got louder and soon over the horizon I could see a stampede of Stegos' charging toward us. Avenging their lost baby!
