I woke up early, remembering that today was going to be extremely busy. We had dress shopping, shoe shopping, and a graduation and dance to go to. Ugh... I climbed out of bed and got dressed in my usual black skinny jeans, black band tee, and dark makeup.
"Hey Jamie, where does this "amazing tailor" friend of yours live?" I asked, climbing down the stairs. The smell of bacon filled my nose and I sniffed deeply. Mmmm. I bolted the rest of the way and grabbed the first piece of bacon I could find. Unluckily for me, I grabbed the freshest piece.
"HOT! Oh my firefly that's hot!" I screamed after quickly chewing and swallowing the piece. Jamie laughed and gave me a glass of milk. I gulped it down and turned to her. I cocked an eyebrow at her.
"Well, I can tell you that if we want to have time for everything else, we better leave now. Oh and she can do makeup and hair, and she's got awesome shoes to go with everything." I sighed and got all of my stuff. I wasn't looking forward to the dresses and all that crap, but a night with Jake was bound to be fun!
Three hours later, I was dressed in the prettiest dress I had ever seen.
"You look beautiful! I'm so happy. Your mother would be so proud." Jamie said with a small smile. After mentioning my mom, I teared up and looked away to hide my face. I could hear Jamie and Cassie whispering worriedly.
"C'mon hon, we have makeup and hair to do." Cassie said, trying to cheer me up.
~Jake's POV~
"How do I look mom?" I asked, wearing a silver tux with a black shirt underneath. I had my long hair brushed and I was makeup free.
"Oh, Jake! You look stunning!" My mom cried. I smiled and looked in the mirror. I wonder what Kat's gonna look like? Beautiful as usual. Tonight was the night. I was gonna lay it all on the line, and tell her how I felt.
"Jacob Pitts!" My mom yelled, with a stern look on her face. I must've zoned out and not heard her.
"Were you ignoring me?" She asked. I smiled and shook my head. "No I was thinking about Kat. How beautiful she's going to be, what I'm going to say when I tell her, that kind of stuff." I smiled sheepishly at my mom. She smiled and shook her head, probably remembering her teen years.
"Now put on your gown and get ready for graduation! We can't be late especially if you two are going to the dance afterwards." Mom scolded. I ran to my room
I got into my '67 Camaro and headed to the footbal field. I couldn't wait! We were going to graduate, go to the dance, and I was going to confess my love for Kat. Then, we would move to California while I started my music career. And if everything went well tonight, then we could posibly get serious, maybe even get married! I smiled at the thought, and turned into the field's parking lot.
After looking forever, I finally found the only girl with neon orange hair. "Kitty! Hey! Over here!" I called out to her. She looked over and I could see her blushing. Was it the nickname? But I always called her that and she never cared... What was wrong? I started making my way over to her, only to find her swiftly walk the other way.
I stopped and sighed. What happened to her? What about tonight? I stood there for a few more minutes before a jerk pushed me forward and smirked at me.
"Nice seein' you fag! Break a leg up there as long as it's yours! Or maybe even your freak girlfriend's. You know, she'd be kinda hot without all that *effed* up makeup." I had a hard time controlling my anger, especially when people insulted Kat. I tensed up, clenching my fists, only to crumble from laughter. His mom had whacked him upside his head with her purse and told him off for using "hurtful words against a sensitive young man."
She turned to me and I saw genuine caring in her brown eyes. "I have alot of respect for you young man. It takes some big ones to continue with a rebellious life after having so many people look down on you. I used to be just like you when I was a teen. Always remember, you're not alone." She smiled at me and walked away, dragging hernson away.
I laughed and turned to go to the staduim. I had to find Kat, and quick. God, where was that girl? She was so damn elusive! I whipped my head around, looking for any glance of bright orange I could find. There! Wait, that was a shirt... I turned toward the parking lot, and saw her just at the edge. I started toward her, just as the school officials started rounding up the seniors. Sighing heavily, I went to the stage and lined up with the rest of my class.
~Kat's POV~
I turned from the cars and saw Jake looking for me. I was so confused. Did I love him? Yes. Did I have more than friends feelings for him? No idea. What was going on? I have no clue! He saw me just as we had to line up for graduation. I headed to the stage so I wouldn't be late.
Graduation was extremely boring as I sat there and waited for my name to be called. What was going to happen at the dance? And what about in California? I drifted into my thoughts drowning everything else out.
~Jake's POV~
I watched as Kat zoned out. I had been friends with her for so long that I knew when she was drowning in her thoughts. Kat was so amazing, and I couldn't keep my thoughts from straying too far from her beautiful face. I couldn't wait for the dance tonight....

~Kat's POV~
I looked in the mirror unable to contain my excitement. My dress was amazing! It had one strap and it was short on one side and floor length on the other. The top was white with black stripes, and where the single strap met the shoulder, there was a black rose. The waist area was black and white checkered, and it fit my body perfectly. The rest was full of ruffles, but it was layered with black, white, and silver poofs. It definitely fit my personality. My hair and makeup were nice and simple, but it still looked amazing. My hair in all it's orange glory was put in an elegant updo with some small curls hanging out. I had on some soft purple eyeshadow and a small cat-eye eyeliner and lip gloss. Like I said, simple but amazing. I couldn't wait to show Jake!
"Katherine Skye Dio! You have five minutes before we have to leave! Where are you?!" Jamie called, sounding pretty angry. I couldn't believe she actually used my full name though. That had me cracking up. I walked out to her car, sparing her of a nervous breakdown. We drove in utter silence, both of us too nervous to talk. When we got there, Jamie looked at me with tear-filled eyes.
"Your mom always talked about how proud she was to have a daughter like you. I never truly understood, thinking it was just her being a normal mother. Now that we're closer, I know exactly what she meant. You are an amazing young lady and I am so proud. So proud that you've grown past all of your troubles, and that you are confident in yourself. So confident in yourself that you dress and act the way you do even after hearing and seeing everybody's unneeded repulsion. Proud that you've come this far in your life. I want you to know that no matter what happens, I will always love you for you. Nothing will ever change that."
By then, my eyes had watered too. I quickly fixed my makeup and gave my aunt a hug full of love and gratitude. This was bound to be a memorable night.
A/N: I am SO SORRY! I took way too long for this and I am extremely upset at myself. I want you all to know that I tried so hard to get this done early but I couldn't. I do have an excuse, I was in the hospital for a while. I'm all better now and I hope to update every weekend, possibly sooner. I might have 5 and 6 up by the end of the night as a gift for my time-off. Thanks to everybody who stuck with me in the meantime. I want you all to know that I love you! And there's a picture of Kat's dress to the side. Awesome right?! Anyway I will have the dance and stuff up soon! Love you all!
Love and rockets.
