I stood still straight
watching him
watching his eyes
They are a warm liquid brown
Dark amber glowing bright
Put in with a sooty thumb
Their temperature rises when he smiles
They boil when he laughs
They melt me in a glance
I watch his eyes travel
In my direction
Slowly, cautiously
Wary of my eyes trapping him
They travel across my hair do
My clothes and my shoes
Finally to meet my eyes as I am
watching him
watching his eyes
As the warmth freezes and turns to solid chocolate
The glow dies,
The amber is deep and depthless
And a cold stare of hatred
Chills me to the bone
