Chapter 6: date

Shailene POV:

Theo. That's the only thing that has been on my mind while I should totally focus on my date with Daren but I just can't. Since he said about 100 reasons why I shouldn't date Daren, I've been ignoring him. He's tried to talk to me alot of times but I'm not ready for more lectures about Daren.
I was about to turn the last corner to my dorm to make myself ready when I saw Theo walking towards me.

"Shai" he waves. Without any second thought I turn around, ready to walk away.
"Shai!" I hear him running to me "GODDAMIT SHAILENE WAIT."
I flinch at his harsh words. Within seconds he grabs my hand and turns me around.
"Shai please let me talk" He sighs.
"No. No Theo I'm not in the mood to hear more bad words about Daren or myself" I say quietly.
"I wasn't going to do that. I wanted to apologize this whole week because of how I acted. I've been a dick and totally immature to you and Daren and I want to make it up to you. I've got time right now so we can watch a movie or whatever you want and-"
"Theo-"
" Or we can go out and grab a bite?"
"Theo list-" I try again
"Or we could just go to my dorm, Keiynan is gone anyway so-"
"Theo would you listen. Yes you were a dick and yes you were immature but I'm glad you see the problem yourself. Now I have to say no to all your offers because I have a date with Daren" I blush. Theo's eyes shut close and he takes a deep breath through his nose.
"I finally have time for us and then you don't." He says in a sad tone. I know exactly what he's doing, he's trying to make me feel bad for canceling this. It's my time now for spending time with someone else.
"Oh come on, I've had time these 8 weeks and you haven't so don't give me a bad feeling now" I scold.
"Whatever Shai, I didn't even know that you two were serious with this whole dating thing. How do you know he really likes you? You've basically talked 2 times to him!" Theo'd whole mood switches in seconds from sad to creepy mad.
"That's what this date is for! To get to know him. I know we haven't talked much but I just feel extremely comfortable around him. I have this feeling that I've never had with another person before, except with you. I feel comfortable around you to do anything that pops in my head, I got the same feeling when I talked with Daren. I know it's strange and you probably won't believe me but I really think this is gonna work." I look at the ground, shifting from one feet to the other, embarrassed to even look up after what I told him.

"I'm just worried for you. I don't want a stupid boy breaking your heart! That's why I was so pissed off yesterday and I'm sorry for that." He opens his arms ready to hug me.
"Well I don't want a stupid girl breaking your heart either" I laugh, throwing my arms around his shoulders and giving him a heart-to-heart hug.
"Oh trust me, no one dares to break my heart." Theo chuckles against my shoulder. It's a nice feeling, hugging with Theo.
It's this feeling you get when you hug someone you've known and trusted for so long, just like when you hug your parents.
"You're an incredible human being Shai, don't let him, no, don't let anybody ruin that. Okay?" He says in a serious voice.
"Okay." I respond. With one last kiss to his cheek I speed of to my dorm.
"See you!"
"Bye babe" He clasps his hand over his mouth while I stiffle a giggle, he must've thought I was Ruth. This sounds like a huge insult inside my head.

Great, my father's calling me. Exactly what I need just before my first date.

Hello Shailene, how are you?

Wow my dad calling because he wants to know how I am doing? This is new.

Hey dad, everything is alright.

Great.

Yeah. I've recently found a new job, close to school so it'll be easy with traveling and stuff. Oh and I saved again $100 for my new car and-

But I was cut of by my dad

Shailene I don't have time for all of this. I just wanted to tell you to stop partying and focus on school.
