Interview with Leporis Honeyman

Hi there! It’s your favourite reporter Nox Lingualaca here, and I’ve been lucky enough to be offered an exclusive tour of the secret facilities used by the Capitol scientists to develop this year’s Game! I have also had the honour of being granted an audience with Leporis Honeyman, the scientific genius behind this twist, who joined me in the central lobby for the interview.

Leporis Honeyman is a name very few people know, but those who do know it know that he is a man who likes things to be exactly right. He arrives on the dot, not a second early or late, and dressed smartly in a simple suit, complete with a white blazer in a stylish nod to his profession. We got underway immediately.

Leporis, the whole Capitol is buzzing about this twist! How much work has gone into it?

A lot. We will only have two days to implement it once the Games begin, but we’ve been working for at least two years, planning just what we’re going to do and how we’re going to do it. It hasn’t been easy. But the whole procedure is running smoothly so it has definitely been worth it and recent tests on Avoxes have a 100% success rate. We are certain that there will be no repeat of the early trial experiments.

Now then, Leporis, so far you’ve been hidden away here. This is likely to catapult you straight into the Capitol spotlight whether you like it or not! But can you see your line of work going commercial after the Games?

I should imagine so. The Capitol have been performing skin-care work for years, but the search for a deeper, more permanent solution is what lead to our founding in the first place. Now that we have perfected the method, I see no reason why it should not be. This could change the Capitol forever.

You seem thrilled by that prospect!

I am. It is exactly what I dreamed of as a child, watching the splendour of the Games. We are honoured to be not only participating in the Games but to be potentially improving the lives of our dutiful citizens and it has been a wonderful opportunity to work so closely with the Gamemakers in order to provide nothing short of the best in science and entertainment.

It must have been thrilling to work with the three lovely ladies and Khave! And the rumour mill spotted you having brunch with them the other week; what was that like?

It was rather nerve-wracking. We don’t often socialise with clients, for obvious reasons, but they were charming people, absolutely charming. The discussions between Pandora and Vinella were enlightening, especially on the subject of what goes on behind the scenes. Khave was the perfect gentleman. I have to admit that I’m not very fond of strawberries, but this did not appear to upset Vinella in the slightest, and Alithia was an engaging host.

As someone who has never been honoured with the pleasure of brunch with the Gamemakers, I have to say that it sounds simply fascinating! You must have heard so many secrets…

No. Sorry. And if we’re no longer talking about my work, then I will beg your permission to leave. There are many preparations to be made with the Games only ten days away. Farewell.
