I took a moment to look around their once pristine room. Memories tainted by the debris in this room. The struggle they imposed was clear.

Who could have killed them?

They weren't bad people?

Right?

Out of the corner of my eye, I glimpsed at something so sick and twisted that almost made me want to empty my already queasy stomach on the stained bedroom carpet. There written in their blood it said...

I am no nightmare. I am a key. The key to all of your questions... You do not find me, I find you, and when I do, you will truly wish I was just a nightmare.

My phone began ringing from my room. So, I ran towards my room hoping it wasn't Him, only to see that it was from an unknown caller. I hesitantly picked up the phone wishing it was just one of those adverts.

"I see you're finally awake."
There it was, that familiar voice from the phone call in my dream, or was it really?

"Who are you, and what do you want with me?"

"Well I'm just being a good person and getting rid of the bad guys. I'm the good guy here! Your parents were liars." I heard the front door slam closed.

I shakily responded with,"No they weren't. They were good, loving parents. Why would they lie to me?"

I started to inch away from my bedroom door since I heard footsteps approaching. They were climbing up the stairs and making long and careless strides toward my room on the second floor.

I heard the voice get louder with each footstep taken. I knew I only had a few seconds left before the man entered the room. Time slowed down...I could hear my breaths increase in sound.

Louder

Louder

LOUDER

My chest was heaving and I could tell he knew. The seconds ticked by one by one...
