Standing there was a strange man with a crazed look and unsheathed knife. But the most chilling thing, he was staring straight at me. I tried to move, run, and shout, anything but I couldn't. I felt petrified, and I guess he found that amusing because in seconds I heard him laughing like a madman. At that moment my mind had finally snapped back into reality and like any sane person, I ran toward my bedroom. In seconds I had barricaded the door, considering the fact that my door had no lock
Rampant thoughts started running through my head. I skeptically eased myself into the darkest corner of my room. I felt like a small child on their first day or a cornered animal about to be butchered.
Trapped and alone.
Who was that man?
Why did he seem so...psychotic?
How did he get into my backyard?
How come he seemed to know me in some way?
Before I could think of any logical responses to those questions, I heard my phone ring out the tune to Perfect. Slowly and carefully I stood up and picked up my phone from where I had left it last.
"Clarissa, honey, be a dear and open your door for me? It would make my job ten times easier, you know?"
"EXCUSE ME?! Who are you, creep?!"
"All in good time child, all in good time..."
"Can't you say one sentence without riddles and metaphors?"
Beep. Beep. Beep.
HE HUNG UP ON ME!!
I looked around my room for an exit or a weapon of any sort. About five minutes later I heard a rustling outside my window. Should I look? No, I shouldn't it will probably scare me more than I already am, and I can't afford to have an anxie-CRASH!
Being the person I am, I just stood there, staring at the brick that just so happened to crash through my window. I regained logical reasoning after about 30 seconds. Suddenly I heard more shuffling from outside my bedroom window. Again another brick crashed inside my bedroom. This time I did scream.
I wasted no time trying to move the self-made barricade from my door. At this point I was on the verge of hyperventilating. He could climb in at any second and go unnoticed considering it was about two in the morning.
It felt like my senses had been altered, and life seemed to go in slow motion. I could hear my heart beat increasing with every second that passed by.
Boom
Boom
Boom
Bo-Crash!!!
I shrieked and jumped back thinking it was that creepy as$ guy.
"Clay?! Why are you screaming at these hours of the morning?"
" DAD! Oh thank God, I thought you were the creepy man that has been outside for about an hour!"
"What are you talking about Clarissa?! There is no man outside our house, and why is your window broken?"
"Dad there was a man... He was holding a knife and looked straight at me from our backyard. OUR BACKYARD! Not to mention the fact that he left me a weird message on my phone and broke my window with a brick!"
"Have you been watching horror movies before going to bed again, Clay?"
"Wha-no! Yes... But that has nothing to do with this Dad! I saw him with my own two eyes!"
"Clarissa, stop with this nonsense at once! Go to bed, and I will call the repair man to fix you window in the morning! Goodnight Clay..."
"Goodnight Father..."
