The Rain

The rain came down faster and harder every time Dean blinked. He couldn't see too far in front of him, which is never a good thing when you are fighting a nest of vampires. At this point he had lost sight of his brother and Castiel, and they were all separate. Alone. Vulnerable. A scream pierced the air. At first Dean panicked, fearing it was his brother, or worse, Castiel. After a minute he recognized it as a feminine scream, belonging to Diana, the head of this particular nest. It was done now. A pack couldn't stay together without it's leader. Or they wouldn't, anyway. This nest would run off and choose a new leader, which would of course be a problem later, but Dean was not concerned about that. He needed to make sure that Sam and Cas were okay. Scrambling around blindly eventually led Dean to Sam, who was sitting inside of the Impala. It was clear that Sam was just as concerned as Dean had been, and they exchanged nods before Dean left to go find Cas. It took a while before Dean tripped over Cas' unconscious body. He fell straight to his knees and picked up Cas, begging him to wake up, begging him to be okay. Being mortal, Cas could die just as easy as anyone, and there was a lot of blood around here. Dean started to worry, calling for Sam, but the rain was too loud for him to be heard. After a minute of complete panic, Cas' eyes fluttered open. He stood up, unharmed, surprising Dean. That's when Dean saw the body of Diana on the ground a few feet away. So that's where the blood was coming from. Dean shouted at Cas several times, asking if he was okay, but Cas couldn't hear. Frustration began to wash over Dean. After the third time of Cas not understanding, Dean just leaned in and kissed Cas. The rain pattered all around, but Dean felt dry and safe. He had wanted to do this for so long. And this is why. He had always heard the kisses in the rain were the most romantic, but he had never believed it. He did now. And it became so much more magical when Cas reached up and entangled his fingers in Dean's hair. And they stayed like that, pressed up against each other and warm, until the rain lifted and Sam honked at them. The got in the car and Sam smirked at Dean.
     "I told you so."
