I had been trying, so far unsuccessfully to fuel a relationship that was in plain sight. My brother, Dean, had been eyeing our best friend, and honorary third brother, Castiel for quite some time. He tried to do it in such a subtle way so I won't notice, but I'm his brother. I saw him with Lisa. I knew what he was like when he was in love.
I didn't know much about Cas in the section of love, because as an angel, he never had time to do human stuff, like falling in love. But I would have put money on it that Cas had fallen not only from grace, but also for Dean.
So now here I was, caught in the middle of this almost love, and to be honest, I wanted it. I wanted Cas to be happy with Dean, and for Dean to be happy with Cas. They just needed a push in the right direction. I knew they wanted it, so I was their push.
We were all three sitting in the bunker one day, quietly sipping on cold beers. I had the stupidest idea.
"Anybody want to play truth or dare? I'm bored."
"Dude, we aren't teenage girls. We have to find manly stuff to do." Dean looked disgusted at the idea. Fail.
"We could just do dares, move it up to teenage boy level." I had never loved Cas more than when he made this comment.
I grinned at Dean. "I'm in! Cummon, Dean!"
Dean sighed. "Fine." He looked horribly terrified, he probably already knew what I was planning. "Well, who's first then?" I finished off the rest of my beer and spun the bottle. It pointed at Cas. This was good. I spun it again. Dean. Noooo.
"Cas, I dare you to," Dean thought for a moment. "Confess your undying love for Mittens." Cas rolled his eyes and picked up his cat. I was laughing.
"I love you, Mittens, forever and always, no matter what." Cas spun the bottle. It landed on Dean. He spun it again. Me. Yes, this is exactly what I needed.
"Dean, I dare you to show Cas your true feelings towards him. Not tell him, show him." If looks could kill, I would have dropped dead right then and there. But, he had to do it.
"Cas I-" I cut Dean off.
"Show him. No words." This made Dean even more angry. Then, he turned toward Cas and the anger disappeared, now replaced with affection. He leaned forward and kissed Cas, and right as he was about to pull back, Cas tangled his fingers in Dean's hair, holding him there. I had done my job. This is what I had been waiting for. I quietly got up and left the room, and left them to do their thing, which I felt would escalate quickly. I found out that I was right when I tried to go to sleep. Long story short, I had to stand by Dean's bedroom door and threaten to shoot them both, to make them shut up.
