Chapter 8
Pauls POV
“No, I’ll take it for you. It’s heavy; don’t want you carrying that around.” I said, trying to persuade her. I wasn’t about to let her take that heavy bag. She was so small and fragile.
She looked at me knowingly. She looked like she was thinking for a second; she looked cute when she was thinking.
“Well can I take your bag instead? I know it’s not as heavy as mine. And besides, I can’t go to school without a bag.” She said smiling at me.
I smiled at her sheepishly; there was no use in arguing with her. She seemed like the type to get her way. I sighed mentally and nodded an ‘okay’.
I got out of the car and opened the boot. I reached in a grabbed my bag. It was light; I only had a couple of books in there. I walked over and gave the bag to her. I moved in to kiss her on the cheek. She didn’t flinch away, so I took that as a sign that she was warming up to me. I saw her blush and took that as my cue to go.
I got back in my car and waved goodbye. As I was driving away I smiling like a goof. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw that she was touching her cheek. The side I kissed, and that made me smile like an even bigger goof.
I drove down the street seeing that there was no-one around. I rounded the corner to where the school would be. There wasn’t even a single car passing by. I looked at the time and saw that it was 9am. Homeroom had already started. Lucky for me, the student car park was still open. I pulled in and found a parking spot. I got out of the car grabbing Pipers bag with me. Wow this was heavy; I can’t believe she carries this every day.
I made my way to my locker and put Pipers bag in there. I grabbed my history book and text book and made my way to class.
As I walk in the students all turn to look at me. I always got this when I walk into class.
“Sorry I'm late sir.” I said apologetically for being late.
The teacher nodded his head and resumed with the lesson. I walked over to my seat in the back. I sat next to my mate Joe. He was leaning in his chair as he usually does. I swear one of these days he’s going to fall.
About 10 minutes past and Piper still hasn’t shown up for class. Doesn’t she know we have double history this morning?
After 5 minutes passed I started to get this feeling something was wrong. I think Piper is in trouble. Like serious trouble. I freaked out a little, and became agitated.
“Sir I need to be excused from class. I'm not feeling too well.” I lied hoping he’d let me out.
“Of course Paul. Just get the homework off Joe later.” He said as he got back to the lesson.
I jumped out of my chair and quickly put my stuff in my locker. I ran out of the school hoping to find Piper. I ran to where I dropped her off.
As I got to the corner I saw a girl on the ground. I approached her hoping she was okay. I moved he body back so that I could see who it was.
