Chapter 20
I was frozen in place, unable to move, my body was in shock, I didn't know how to process what was going on. I tried to speak, but I couldn't form a coherent sentence. I recognised the voice, and up until this day, it still scared me. I thought she had run away after what she did to me, after the police were after her. I thought she wouldn't come back. I thought that I had only one thing left to deal with and that was finding whoever broke into my home and tried to attack me.
I wasn't that lucky though. I was still holding the phone to my ear, and built up some strength to speak.
“Where is she?” I choked out petrified, I could sense the smirk on her face, and that made me feel sick, knowing that she's enjoying this.
“Oh Blondie’s fine. For now.” She said mockingly.
“What do you want?” I asked tentatively, not able to speak her name.
“You.” She paused before continuing, “I was unable to get you last time when you were locked up in your room, but when that door finally opened, you weren’t there. So now I have a plan B. If you want your precious Blondie back alive, I want a trade.”
I gasped realising what she had just said. She was the person who broke into my house, a small part of me was relieved, but the rest was scared as hell, scared of what she wants, but if I don't ask, Savannah won't survive.
I took in a deep breath and asked her what she wanted as the trade.
“I want you to meet me. Alone. So don't go calling your boyfriend. You have an hour, not a minute later or Blondie gets it.” She instructed, telling me where to meet her before she hung up.
I was hyperventilating, tears streaming down my face. How could this be happening to me? Me, of all people? Savannah didn't do anything. How could someone be so twisted?
I knew I had to go alone, but I couldn't just take off without my dad asking any questions, he would see right through me. I need a ride but he's leaving to go to his office to work late tonight.
There is one person I can call, who wouldn't ask questions, but I wouldn't know whether or not he’d talk to me.
I dialled the number and called. The phone rang a few times before he answered.
“Hello.”
“Michael. H-Hey.” I stuttered, having the slightest bit of doubt about calling him.
“What's wrong Pip?”
“Nothing, I need a lift someplace.”
“Why didn't you call Paul?” he asked confused.
“Um, well, he's kind of not speaking to me.” I confessed. “Look, can you give me a ride or not? I’m kind of in a hurry.”
“Yeah sure ok, but we are going to have a little talk when you're finished ok? I'll be there in a few.”
Every passing minute felt like hours, like something terrible was happening to Savannah. I couldn't deal if anything happened to her. What the hell is Michael going to do when he figures out why I needed a ride? What if Shauna finds out I called him? Maybe I made a mistake. Maybe I should I tell Michael to leave when he gets here.
