The train ride went well and all was peacefull. We finally arrived in a small town called Tombstone. It was eery as we made our way through the streets with dust rolling and people staring . Both of opur men went to protect us and put Erina and I between the two of them. Joel and Mathew exchanged a few words before money was passed and Joel led us to a store. I asked Joel hesitantly.
"What the hell was that Joel? What's going on?"
"Mathew has to take care of a few things and I was instructed to get you two to a store away from main street and all those men. "
He stated simply. I cleared my throat and continued walking as I watched Erina and Joel. We walked into a small store for women that was equiped with lace and silk. It was a dress makers shop. I saw a beautifull bleach blonde woman walk towards me and say with a fake sweetness.
"Now what would you ladies like today? A nice see through neglishay or a night time oufit to improve your business?"
She infasised the word ladies and I knew from what she had just said that she was calliung both Erina and I whores. We are no longer brothel workers there fore I wasn't going to let this woman walk on us.
"Yes our business is quite thriving compared to yours . We are simply content with just our men. It seems the Ladies around here are not."
I said calling her bluff and staring straight into her eyes while i called her the title she just claimed as ours . A whore. That is what I called her. By the way she talked to us she deserved to be called one too. She laughed and I simply just walked around her store waching the workers spin lace and delicate undergarments. She followed me and Erina and Joel watched us like we were both fixing to break out and fight. She leaned in close and then she said in a low snide voice.
"Now listen here girl I know who you are and I know where you come from. You are just a pawn to Mathew before he gets tired of you and marries me. Accept it or I will make you accept it not so nicely. Mathew is mine."
She said briskly and then plastered on a fake smile and patted my shoulder. I watched her walk off and "assist" another woman and then I walked towards Erina and Joel. Just as I reached them Mathew opened the dorr and pulled me swiftly to his side.
"I missed you too."
I whispered in a low voice that only he could hear. He laughed a deep laugh and when I looked up I saw the blonde watching us intently and then I saw Mathew tense and have a blank face . His body was stiff and his hold on me grew tighter. He looked her in the eye as he managed to croak out .
"Carrie."
He tipped his hat to her and she smiled and walked to us . I could tell she was going to try to touch him and I stared her down cold sending her a silent message saying "He's mine." She nodded to him and then we turned our backs to her and left not saying a word.
