'He's perfect.'
'Excuse me?'
'You wanted me to tell you about John and so I am, he's perfect'
I finally decided to do it.
My mum has convinced me two days earlier to call Adam and talk with him about John, and I finally had the guts to dial his number and talk to him.
But not just because of my mum, not because she believes it would make me feel better.
But because of John.
He deserves to be remembered, as someone great.
Someone who was and forever will be, perfect.
I remember John once related himself, to Augustus waters, in the fault in our stars.
He told me he wanted to leave his mark in this world.
And so I have decided to talk to Adam about John, maybe he turns out to be someone who writes, who is popular somehow and would tell the world about the greatness of John McAdam.
And maybe, just maybe, I will be able to smile again. Knowing that John's wish has been fulfilled.
'Tell me more? Would you like us to meet somewhere?'
'Over the phone would be better.'
'Sure.'
'He loved playing the guitar, learned a bunch of songs on it all by himself and even made up his own song'
I left out the part that mean the most to me; it was our song he made.
'Loved his family so much, his family is like, huge.' I exhaled, laughing inside as I remembered when he first introduced me to them. He got mixed up in the names himself, and so we started naming them after their characteristics like, Mr. Blonde Hair and Mrs. Green eyes.
'And um, he wanted to travel to a lot of places, together'
Now I was sobbing, hard.
'I am sorry if that makes you sad, or uncomfortable, I really don’t mean it.' Adam finally said.
'No, it's okay.'
I then continued, quietly through my sobs, 'He joined the soccer team for quite some time. He wasn't enjoying it much'
Partly, because I thought, since he's in the soccer team, he would date a cheerleader, so he quit it for good. It was stupid of me and so so gentle and tender of him.
'His favorite food?' Adam asked.
'Mac and cheese, extra cheese, and coke with it, extra ice.'
'Nice'
'Yeah'
'He loved all kinds of ice-cream, literally, every month, there would be a new favorite of his until he gets bored of it at the end of the month'
'And um, he enjoyed, well seemed to enjoy to me, watching romantic movies'
He chuckled, that was very rare among guys.
It was one of the things that made me love John. He respects a girl's need and what she likes to do in leisure times. Even though, he might not favor it himself.
'He loved pets, cats especially, for some weird reason, he once rescued a cat from getting hit by a car, and he almost lost his legs in the process.'
'I remember his mom didn’t know whether to shout or tell us what we did was good, because we almost threatened our lives to save her' I chuckled.
It was the first time in one whole year.
It sounded weird, coming out of my mouth.
Foreign, like speaking a new language fluently, even though you never learned it.
My mom was then home.
'Listen I have to go, can I call you later?' I asked Adam politely.
'Yes, sure, any time you want'
'Okay, bye'
I then ran out of my room and rushed into my mother's hug, just like I used to do as a little kid.
It is true you know, a mother's heart feels everything, whether its danger or better things for her children to come.
'Thank you Mum, I love you' I whispered during our long hugging session.
I felt her tears streaming out of her eyes and mine too.
It was a flicker of hope, for both of us, since God knows when.
