Forty-eight

{ I got something to tell you, and it just can't wait }

"Princess!" I called out, trying to find Grace. She said she'd be in the green room waiting for me. But she wasn't. Pierce The Veil was getting ready to take the stage, and I wanted to see if Grace wanted to watch from side stage tonight.

"Have you seen Grace?" I asked Mike, who was tossing his drum sticks into the air and catching them.

He shrugged, "I have not," he stated, throwing one of his sticks at Rachel, who's back was turned to him, and hitting her right on the butt.

"You mother fucker!" Rachel yelped, tackling Mike to the ground.

I chuckled and shook my head before heading to the other side of the stage, hearing the crowd going wild. Their energy got me pumped, and I couldn't wait to get on stage. Andy, from Crown The Empire, finished up their last song and yelled, "who's ready to see Pierce The Veil?!"

The crowd went psycho, screaming, jumping, chanting. I looked across the stage at Vic and Jaime talking and laughing, Mike leaning against the wall with Rachel, and Lexi and Ellie chatting up the crew. And here I am, alone, on the opposite side of the stage. I shook my head and fit my guitar strap over my shoulder. As the crew as swapping Brent's drum kit with Mike's, someone's sweater clad arms wrapped around my waist from behind, "good luck, baby," Grace's quiet voice barely rose above the sounds of the fans.

"Thanks princess," I smiled and laced my fingers through hers. I felt her tense beneath me as I grabbed her wrist to pull her closer. "You ok, baby?" I asked.

Grace pulled her arms away and folded them over her chest, "I'm fine," she forced a smile, "go have fun, turtle."

I leaned down and softly kissed her forehead, "we'll talk about this after the show, ok?" I insisted, raising my eyebrows and giving her a stern look.

"Ok," she breathed, looking down at her feet.

I kissed her forehead again and jogged into the stage strumming my guitar. We played through Yeah Boy and Doll Face, Caraphernelia, A Match Into Water, Hell Above, Bulls In The Bronx, The Sky Under The Sea, Wonderless, and Bulletproof Love before the crowd started chanting for King For A Day.

"Guys, Kellin obviously isn't here, so how the fuck are we supposed to play King?" Vic laughed into the mic.

Grace ran around the back of the stage, and met up with the other three girls while Vic continued to argue with the crowd. I watched carefully as she whispered something Rachel's ear, causing them both to jump up and down excitedly. Rachel then turned to Lexi, grabbing her shoulders and explaining what Grace had told her. Lexi's eyes got huge and she shook her head. The other girls wouldn't take no for an answer and handed Lexi a mic before shoving her onto the stage.

Vic turned to see what all the commotion was about, and smiled as Lexi walked hesitantly to center stage. "What do we have here?" Vic chuckled, as Jaime ran over and quickly kissed Lexi on the lips, causing the crowd to go nuts.

"Babe, are you gonna scream Kellin's parts?" Jaime asked enthusiastically.

"Who wants to hear if little Lexi can scream?" Vic asked the crowd, earning a plethora of screaming girls and guys and a surge of people towards the barricade. Lexi nodded and Jaime, Mike and I started up.

"Dare me to jump off of this Jersey bridge," Vic screamed, the crowd screaming along with him.

"I bet you never had a Friday night like this," the boys and I knew Lexi could scream, but the crowd sure wasn't ready for her.

Vic smiled and jumped onto one of the risers, screaming, "Keep it up keep it up lets raise our hands."

"I take a look up in the sky and I see red," Lexi stepped up onto Jaime's riser and threw her arm around his neck.

"Red for the cancer, red for the wealthy,

Red for the drink that's mixed with suicide," Vic's screams echoed through the arena.

"Everything red!" Lexi's voice blasted through the speakers as she head banged along to the beat.

"Please, won't you push me for the last time,

Lets scream until there's nothing left

So sick of playing, I don't want this anymore.

The thought of you is no fucking fun.

You want a martyr, I'll be one

Because enough's enough,

We're done," Lexi sang, leaning forward towards the crowd.

"You told me, "think about it"

Well I did, now I don't wanna feel a thing anymore

I'm tired of begging for the things that I want,

I'm over sleeping like a dog on the floor.

The thing I think I love

Will surely bring me pain

Intoxication, paranoia, and a lot of fame

Three cheers for growing up

Pubescent drama queen

You make me sick, I make it worse by drinking late," Vic sang in response.

The energy and chemistry they had while performing was ridiculous. It's probably because they've known each other for so long. "That's it for today, but thank you all so fucking much for making this damn good show!" Vic yelled breathlessly into the mic. He smiled and draped his arm over Lexi's shoulder and they bowed. I walked off the stage and quickly headed to the bus for a shower before I had a talk with Grace.

"Have you seen Grace?" I asked Mike when I got out of the shower.

He shrugged, "I'm pretty sure she's with the other girls. They were all hanging out outside last I saw."

"Great, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked, pulling him into the back lounge.

He nodded, "what is it man?" He asked.

I scratched the back of my neck and sighed, "it's about Grace."
