I DO NOT own Steven Universe, or any of the Steven Universe Characters. They belong to Rebecca Sugar.

Emerald, however, is my property.

'The chef was just about to complete the final competition when a loud explosion made the whole building shudder, then-'

Then Steven slammed the door open and I lost my reading place. I sighed and placed a bookmark on the page I was currently on, and shut my book before walking over to where Garnet,  Amethyst and Pearl were standing beside Steven, who was now staring out the window at a  tan girl with brown, almost black hair.

"What's up, Stevie? Is that your friend down there?" I asked looking down at the young half-gem.

"Who's that girl down there, Steven?" Pearl added.

"Uh- she's... someone I know. But she doesn't know me..."

"OH! We should set up a play date! I need to find out her favorite tea-"

"Ew, not everyone likes tea, Pearl." I added in, scrunching my nose up at the mention of tea. "Sophisticated people drink tea, Emerald." "Who said she was sophisticated? Maybe she'd rather have a juice box, or lemonade. Or root beer." I added the last part with a grin, thinking of my favorite drink. Pearl shot an exasperated frown at me, we had this conversation every time she brought up tea. I cant help that its the grossest thing I've ever put in my mouth.

Steven interrupted our argument, "I'm gonna go back down there and introduce myself to her, but you cant watch, it'll mess up my funky flow.." " We wont watch." Garnet said and Steven said sheepishly, running to the fridge and grabbing a glowing pink bracelet then running out the door.

I went back to my book, and Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet were sitting down, away from the window. Although, Pearl looked like she wanted nothing more than to go and look out the window to se what Steven and his new lady friend were doing.

"Sit down, P, they're fine." Amethyst said, sitting upside down on the couch and looking up at the ceiling.

"You don't know that!"

"Whatever."

They continued to argue, but I tuned them out and continued on with my book. "What could a chef possibly accomplish with a few over ripened vegies and some processed spices?"  Natta grinned nastily, looking at the young, blond chef. He was certain that Sadii wouldn't be able to beat his chef in the duel, there was no way anything he made from those ingredients would charm the critics.

Just as soon as I was about to read about Sadii making an amazing soup and a small, but tasty side dish out of his seemingly half rate ingredients,  Pearl motioned for us to go down to the beach (where we had to defeat a gem monster). Steven and Connie, his newest friend seemed to get along very well. Pearl began to babble on excitedly to Connie, who was blushing almost as hard as Steven at Pearls questions.

"Don't mess with his Funky Flow." Garnet said, with a small, barely there smile as she steered Pearl away from Steven and Connie.

I smiled, "Hello Connie, my name is Emerald. The two ladies that were just here were Garnet and Pearl, and that's Amethyst." Amethyst waved at Connie, then grinned and chased after Garnet and Pearl.

Connie grinned back, and shook my hand, before I announced my leave and headed back up to the  house. Steven had returned shortly after, and told us about his adventure, "I summoned a bubble! And we went under the sea, and, then you guys showed up!" Steven grinned as he told us everything that had happened today.

I smiled as I looked around at my family of misfits (yes, even Pearl), now one person bigger. Today was a good day.

Even though I didn't get to finish my book today....
