"And then we can get the bits!" Steven exclaimed as he pulled me and Amethyst along down the sidewalk. We had went to the big donut and gotten some chocolate glazed jelly donuts with rainbow sprinkles. I swore I could just see the cavities popping up on Stevens teeth, and I had no doubt he would need to brush his teeth once we got home.
"Hey, Mr. Fryman! Gimme the bits!"
"Steven, you know you can have regular fr-" Mr. Fryman began, but was interrupted.
"Aw, give 'im the bits" Amethyst cut in, making Mr. Fryman sigh, and I rolled my eyes.
"The bits, the bits, the bits!" The two youngest crystal gems chanted as Mr. Fryman got 'the bits' out of the fryer and put them into a fry bag. I sent him an apologetic smile, accepting the bag and handing it to Steven who smiled, and thanked the older male.
As Steven and Amethyst munched on their fry bits, we headed over to Funland Arcade. Mr. Smiley greeted us, and we all headed to different games. I headed over to a racing game, which I had played a few times before and knew I could at least get a few tickets.

Emerald sighed as she crashed into another car, a large 'GAME OVER' showing up on the screen. so far she had only gotten 7 tickets, not as many as she'd hoped for. She looked over at the dancing game to see Amethyst adding in her own moves with the ones she was supposed to be doing for the game.
Steven was chatting with the owner, Mr. Smiley, and gesturing his hands toward a toy he was probably wanting to get.
Emerald then looked back to her own game, selecting 'RESTART' and revving up the pretend engine on her motorcycle. "Ready. Set. GO!" came from the game, and she swerved around the other cars in an attempt to get farther and be the closest to the finish line.
"Oh no you don't..." she mumbled under her breath as a blue mustang tried passing her motorcycle, pushing the 'boost' button and speeding past it and two other vehicles. She was now in third place, a white motorcycle was in second and a bright orange ford was in the lead. She had two more boosts left, and the finish line was still two laps away.
She managed to catch up to the white motorcycle, and pushed it off the road with her own, causing it to be out of the race and her to be in second place. Unfortunately for Emerald, the timer hit zero before she could get past the mustang, and the screen showed that she had second place. Five tickets came out of the ticket slot, which she added to the seven she had in her pocket.
"Awesome, Emi!" Steven said, looking at the screen. "I've never been able to get to second place! I've always gotten third or fourth place." Emerald smiled at Steven, then handed him the twelve tickets she had won.
"I think that's enough for me, kiddo. Im gonna head over to the cliff and relax for a while."
"Aw... Ok, I'll see at home then!" Steven gave one of his award winning smiles then ran over to another game.
Emerald walked back towards the beach house, and then to the cliff where she had left her book, 'Dual on the Ocean', and sat down. She sighed and looked up towards the clouds, trying to identify shapes and figures that the clouds could make up. She could hear Pearl washing clothes in the house, and she knew Garnet had went on a solo mission again, this time to Australia, where there had been Gem activity detected.
Emerald let her eyes drift closed as a warm breeze began to blow and push the clouds towards the south.
