I looked down as I slid into my desk. I let my hair cover my face and I chewed on my lower lip as I flipped to the riight page in our workbooks. I could feel people's eyes stare at me from all around the room. It was intoxicating. I wish this period was over already.
"Okay class, turn in your essays on the book you have read for historical fiction." My father instructed. We all stood up and walked up to the front. I avoided eye contact with anyone and placed my paper in his hands. I quickly walked into my seat looking down at the book i'm reading. I run my fingers through my hair and feel someone tap my shoulder.
"Psssttt. Avery right?" I turned around towards the source of the voice. I raised my eyebrows in surprise to see that it was Francis Kedder. Someone else who was on the football team. Why are all these popular guys suddenly talking to me? I nodded and he smiled.
"I heard that you were with Jacob at The Rocket last night." My cheeks flushed pink as a smiled and nodded again.
"Yeah...we were just hanging out and talking about classes." I answered back. I heard him snort and roll his eyes.
"Suuuurrrrrreeee. He's my best friend. He likes you Avery. Didn't he ask you out today?" He went on, fliiping his hair to the side. I rolled my eyes and nodded. He smiled when he saw the red on my cheeks grow. He leaned back and looked towards the front. I sighed and covered my eyes with the back of my hand.
"Avery? Are you alright?" I heard my dad or should I call subsitute, ask.
"I'm fine Mr. Willows." I snapped as I opened my eyes to pay attention to the front. I was going to pay for this later, but at this point I didn't really care. He carried on with the lesson ignoring my talking back. I yawned and hid it behind my hand trying to hide it. This was such a fun period.

Grumbling, I walked into the cafeteria with my lunch bag and a ear splitting headache. I sat next to Johanna and groaned laying my head on the table.
"Hey you okay?" I heard someone's voice. It wasn't Johanna's like I was expecting, it was Jacob's. I glanced up at him and pursed my lips nodding slowly.
"Yeah, i'm fine." I replied rubbing my temples. He sat next to me and started eatting his lunch. To be honest I was a little shocked about this but i went along with it. I looked over to Johanna who's mouth was open so wide it looked like she could stuff her whole sandwich into her mouth. I chuckled a little and opened my lunch to start eatting.
"Soooo..... Jacob right?" Johanna questioned. He nodded still chewing on his food.
"I'm Johanna. Avery's best friend." She boasted before opening up her lunchbox. He smiled and raised his eyebrows at me. I shrugged smiling a little before placing a chip in my mouth and chewing slowly.
"Well Johanna, me and Avery are going on a date this Saturday." Jacob exclaimed proudly. My face got so red, I looked like a giant tomato. Johanna squealed loudly and I giggled a little. I glanced at Jacob again and he was smiling sheepishly at me. I groaned and buried my face in my hands. Jacob chuckled and placed a hand on my back rubbing it gently. I felt the sudden urge to lean my head on his shoulder. I smiled at him and continued eating.
"Awwww! So where are you guys going to go?" Johanna gushed as she looked at us both.
"It's a surprise. Why would I tell you?" Jacob chuckled as he ran his hand down my spine making me shiver.
"Well i'm her best friend and I want to make sure she's taken care of. If you hurt her Jacob, I will punch your face in and eat your soul for breakfast." Johanna declared. My eyes widened and I held in a giggle covering my mouth. I glanced over at Jacob whos eyebrows were raised, looking amused.
