POV Dakota
Red...so intensely red... I can't escape the burning...I can't escape the blood. On fire...I'm on fire. Fire burning me alive. I can't escape.
"Miss! Miss!" The flight attendants unearthly perky smile and grotesque red lipstick woke me from my uneasy slumber.
"Miss, we are going to be landing soon! Please adjust your seat and put on your seat belt!" She almost cheered.
"Yeah...sure...I mean of coarse." I Stumbled over the words to say.
My mind had gone somewhere else. Somewhere more severely unpleasant then a small third class airplane ,if that was even possible.
The plane landed in the small Port Angeles airport and my world skipped a beat. Was I making the right decision? I didn't even know these people and now I had to share my life with them...everything I once new was now being flipped upside down and there was a great chance I would never be able to make it right side up again.
I took a large breathe and headed out of the airport. I didn't have much to my name a small black jansport backpack that contained an old laptop, a small change purse, and a leather journal. I was wearing a light jacket and the only pair of jeans I owned. I'd never owned any clothing that was transferable to four seasons Maui wasn't really the place for long pants and winter jackets.
The parking lot was small and easy to navigate ...I recognized him immediately...He was extremely hard to miss the only tan among the pale faces.
