Dear Child,

Things got easier at school, it was week five and I was well into the rhythm of schoolwork and balancing boarding life as well. I joined the touch team, half because I needed to shift my lazy self into an exercise routine, but mainly because James Hughes was on the boys team and man he was getting more attractive everyday.

I only saw him once a day in maths class and I contemplated changing into HPE with him but soon remembered that I would only embarrass myself further if the ball came flying my way. I tried looking for him at lunch but he was never where his friends were. I came to the conclusion that he was probably down in the ‘narnia forest’ with yet another girl he was fooling around with and I stuck with that idea. I had made a few friends, but still felt like they could reject me at any time and I didn’t like living on the edge of a friendship like that. The parties continued on a weekly basis and I still hadn’t attended a single one of them. Maybe, I was just waiting for James to invite me to go with him, or maybe not. I wasn’t even sure of my own emotions at that time.

My parents still hadn’t called.

Love Ebony May xoxo
